XP boot failure after Win2000 Pro installation

Basicly after me installing Win2000 (H:\ Partition) i am no longer able to boot into winxp (C:\Paritition) at the boot menu.

After selecting and WinXP and entering the command it comes up with an error which says somthing like the following:

Windows 2000 can not boot this OS due to the following missing or corrupt file:

    C:\Windows\System32\Config\SYSTEMd

Ive gone into win2000 and accessed that folder on my XP partition but that file is not there there is a file called system but it doesn have a "d" at the end of it. I looked on my other computer with winxp and that file is not on there either. Whats the problem with it and how would i fix it?

IIRC you need to install the older version of windows FIRST.

Reinstall XP and i think itll work.

Yeh i thought of that and its what Ill do next time. Im not too keen on re-installing XP since i only re-installed it last night and configed everything. Is there a way i can reinstall the boot files for XP. I could then edit the boot.ini file once im in XP so that it will pick up 2000 aswell.

Yes; you need to do a repair install from the CD, and only allow it to inspect the boot files.
