When I boot to Windows many of the taskbar icons do not load, needing a logoff (and automatic logon again !) to resolve - this is with the SSDP and UPnP services enabled (automatic start).
If I disable or set these 2 services to manual, many attempts at connecting to the internet cause my PC to more or less freeze for between 4-10 minutes - this turns out to be as a result of DCOM waiting for a response......help suggests I enable SSDP and UPnP services !
The cause of this seems to be my Gigabyte Wireless card, supplied in the motherboard bundle (K8NXP-SLi) and this is running the very latest drivers (WHQL). If I disable the card, the problem with connecting to the internet disappears....but, obviously, then I have no wireless !
The Wireless card uses Ralink (derivative) drivers.....and I have discovered that there have been issues with many of the other cards that use these.......
So, any ideas ?! Perhaps if there is a way to 'tell' DCOM not to wait too long for a response.......?
