Email Server

Hi all,

The script, me and the gf have multiple email accounts but multiple machines, without using imap servers I'd like to set up a MS Exchange like server, so then I can administer my email on any of my machines.

I do have a home server machine which is left on 24/7, so the proggy would be installed on that and left running.

Any recommendations for a freeware email exchange/server?

the only freeware one that springs tgo mind is HP openmail , but I suspect its a) no longer available b) not compiled for windows.

I've seen mdeamon used as a mail server before with PST files kept on a central server.

its not the most elegent solution , but it can work for a small number of users.

may also be worth checking out ebay for an Intel email station - Tiny little box of tricks that would vacuum up multiple pop accounts into a single one. They generally go for pittance!

The first company I worked in had less than 35 staff in total, so we ran VPOP3 on an NT 4.0 Workstation to pick up mail from a single Demon POP3 mailbox and sort it into different user accounts, this might be worth having a look at.

(Though it has been years since I used it, and I don't know if it will suit your needs exactly.)
