yes but try creating a project in VS2005, and then loading it in 2003 You get problems unless you are very careful
Even doing something none .net related (eg C++) in 2005 and then trying to mvoe back to 2003 causes issues

It's no different from every other edition - MS always 'upgrade' the project files (vcproj/sln) to the new version and then you're er.. stuck with that version. I've often had to maintain seperate project files (e.g. for VS 6.0 and VS 2003) by adding files to the project in both devstudios.
From what i can see so far there's a much larger focus on security with the C runtime (so lots of c-style string functions have changed or been updated) and MFC 8.0 has a few incompatibilities again. Nothing worse than last time - yet.
I'm much more excited about .NET 3! Why because I love data driven applications these Linqs (sorry bought the pun) should explain why:Originally Posted by happytechie

it all comes out of BETA on the 7th afaik, release day w00 No pressure to get this app finished then
I couldn't inatall the RTM version of 2005 Pro from a DVD burned (perfectly with no errors, I checked). I had to use winRAR to get the files from the iso image and install from there, pain in botom of the highest order...

HT, was your source a questionable one?
throw new ArgumentException (String, String, Exception)
MSDN DVD works fine here
very questionable, it was the subscriber's downloads section of MSDN. I suspect the issue was my POS USB 1 DVD burner to be honest.
Once they were un-imaged to the file system the install went perfectly.
I'm sure that the download is available via your fave P2P network by now anyway.
HT
Not that he'd dream of doing so anyway.Originally Posted by happytechie
