Cheap Media Server

Can anyone suggest an OS, must be easy to use and will work with onboard audio, Linux is fine.

It will be used just to serve as a music server connected to an office sound system, what ever will play the music must have a web interface to access the playlist as the machine will be on the network.

We have a p4 and 512mb ram to use from an old server.
