    Vista RC1 internet problems

I have just installed Vista RC1 as a dual-boot with Win XP on my computer. However, when in Vista I can only get to certain webpages, like news.bbc.co.uk, but not to www.google.co.uk or www.microsoft.com. Everything works fine in Win XP so I don't think that it could be a setting on my router... any ideas?

    Cheers

    Dave

Hmm - works fine for me. What do you get if you try pinging the website address? Also as I don'#t believe RC1 has been released yet can you confirm the build number?

Sorry my mistake it was the pre-RC1 version that MS released last week. I think the build number was 5536 but I don't have it in front of me.
When I ping www.google.co.uk it responds, but when I ping www.microsoft.com it does not reply. Something that is weird though it that it managed to do the Vista updates. So it must be able to speak to some sort of microsoft IP address to get them.

when you say it doesn't reply are you getting a timeout, an unknown host or something else. If you could try when at the machine and also post the ip address that the hostname resolves too I may be able to help. If it's the build from last week it should be build 5536. RC1 looks to be available now to Connect users (build 5600), so I was wrong in what I stated above - sorry!

I have now installed RC1 of Vista. And am getting the same problem. When I ping www.microsoft.com it resolves to 207.46.198.30 and I get request timed out. When I ping www.google.co.uk it resolves to 64.233.183.103 and has a reply. However I can get to neither website through IE.

the full RC1 release is due wednesday so I'd wait until then and try again.

My pre-rc1 is ok on internet but getting the odd slow downs and jittery sound(with the latest beta creative driver for my audigy 2).
I do know everything, just not all at once. It's a virtual memory problem.
