i know you can see the progress bar but i like to know how much its actually transferring at just like to u can get with all the browser download managers
nope.
there might be an addon to explorer that can do it, but thats only a guess.
Apparently Vista can do this, though which for me is a big selling point of the OS, but not enough to out way some of the down sides.
Here is an add-on you can use
http://www.ranvik.net/totalcopy/
Right click on the taskbar and select Task manager from the menu. Click on the networking tab and you can see rates as a percentage of your network speed (better than nothing if you're desparate
Get the Vista RC1 It shows a load of different bits of information, along with an updated graphic for the animation. Surprise surprise...every graphic is updated i suppose.
About time the OS looked at the amount of data you want to copy and the space left on the destination drive too, IIRC Vista now does this.
My Amiga did it back in 1990....
http://www.ranvik.net/totalcopy/ looks great, another add-in I never knew I needed!
This is what I like about MacOS X (and other MacOS). Macs seem to be slow to transfer though thats the only problem. Looking forward to vista, although still not sure there is a need for several different versions of it apart from making MS more cash.

Just wanted to give http://www.ranvik.net/totalcopy/ a big thumbs up, it works flawlessly for me and is a huge improvement over Explorer's copy.
I regularly copy high volumes of music (10GB+) between disks on my NAS and this copes exceptionally well. Previously I had to split it into smaller chunks but totalcopy handles transient network issues seamlessly.
10 out of 10 from me.
