Hi,
I have just had a question passed to me regarding viewing sites on a mobile and how easy would it be to turn a site into a mobile friendly website. Has anybody done this before and how easy is it to do?
Cheers,
Adam

I don't know how to do it myself, but this might be of interest to you:

There are a few ways to do this, one is to write your website so that it conforms to the XHTML standards - this should work for the higher end phones that have normal web browsers on them.
Another way is to write a new site in WML (Wireless Markup Language) which is specific for the mobile internet.
Lots of information regarding the mobile web can be found at http://forum.nokia.com
what ever happened to wap - it died its death totally.
It is Inevitable.....
It's still going strong and is used in quite a number of applications/sites, it's just not heavily (mis-) advertised anymore...
really I had no idea it was still going strong.
Could you suggest some main stream sites that a still going and perhaps popular. I'd love to investigate.

Not all of these are WAP but are mobile...
BBC Mobile - http://www.bbc.co.uk/mobile/web/how2get.shtml
Google Mobile - http://www.google.co.uk/mobile/
Yahoo Mobile - http://mobile.yahoo.com/
Along with pretty much any kind of mobile marketing campaign.
There is also a Java version of Opera that will work on just about everything. It actually loads your page on the opera servers and then re-works it to send to opera on the device, stripping out a lot of things i things aren't needed. I've only used it to have a look at my music library in SlimServer running on a NAS box with a reduced skin for handhelds, but it does look pretty good
its worth noting that people such as google have a "mobile web" initive, that is parse oridenry websites, and re-format them in an i know best manner so that they are useable on mobile phone screens. Your site might already be perfectly useable by one of these services
