    Vista driver help

Im struggling with the Wifi driver on an Asus P5B deluxe, on Vista 5728.

Everything installed perfectly, apart from the Wifi, so i grabbed the latest version of the drivers from the Asus website and installed...It stopped just before the install and said it couldnt install it and then another window popped up and asked if i wanted it installing correctly, so i said yes (out loud) and it installed, it was detecting my existing network, but it wouldnt connect using WPA-PSK (ive since seen the post underneath this), but it would connect with no encryption at all, so i know that the wireless connection is working. Tried everything to get the WPA-PSK working, and finally decided to uninstall the driver software, unfortunatly, the software didnt uninstall properly, and now i cant reinstall the driver, and have no connectivity at all.

Is there a way of repairing this kind of thing on vista?

I managed to do this on the beta version, on a different motherboard, with a wired connection as well

Any help will be appreciated cheers

Try installing the driver under XP compatibility mode(go to properties then compatibility mode, then run the driver). I've used this successfully with a few drivers and they work fine.
I do know everything, just not all at once. It's a virtual memory problem.

Thats how i managed to install the driver, but its not allowing any kind of WPA-PSK connection, or WEP for that matter, yet it will connect with no protection at all, so i dunno really

yes mate, ive tried both AES and TKIP, TKIP is what i normally have the network on, but the other pc's with Xp on, work with either, but the Vista one doesnt. Its an odd one.

    Hey Clunk,

I finally fixed the WPA-PSK issue last night!! Its ow working for me in Vista RC1. Heres what I did.

    - Deleted any wireless profiles I had previously created.
    - Create a new profile, select manual settings when the wizard starts
    - Enter the required fields, but choose open in where it asks about encryption
    - Go to 'manage wireless networks' in the 'network and sharing centre'. Right click and go into properties for the profile you created
    - In the first tab tick automatically connect and also tick to connect even when its not broadcasting the SSID (I had to do that coz mines configured not to for extra security). - Go to security tab and select WPA-Personal, then TKIP and enter your shared key below in the provided field
    - Turn your firewall off (i use the built in windows one) on the wireless connection too. I had to for it to work properly. I just set up the router to do the filtering.

I went back into the network list and pressed connect on my network - it worked straight away!

I used these as guides to help me work it out:
