    That would depend on your definition of "hardware"

    In all honesty I'll be paying full retail whack so I don't need to worry about this kind of stuff.

    Also from that link

    "The change in policy will not affect consumers who purchase their Windows license preinstalled on a PC from a hardware manufacturer. No license transfers are allowed in those cases."

    That would be the OEM version

    I ran a advisory tool from MS, my current pc spec is suitable for business version. But I won't be upgrading, vista looks like a lock in type of OS.

    Vista looks awesome. I like the polished look of it and some of the features are awesome.

    i know. But the upgrade versions cant be used on own built systems.

    I'm luckey you said that - just built a new computer and was just about to buy the media center edition with view to upgrade when vista comes out with the coupon.

    So are you saying that, if i did buy windows media center, i wouldn't be able to upgrade to vista with the coupon because it is built by myself?

    Sounds a bit of a scam to me.
