I've just picked up a copy of Vista RC1 which contains 2 dvds and a product key.
Will this product key work for 'real vista, or will it only work for RC1?
I tried RC1, and I have RC2 but never installed it.
I've been waiting for Vista to appear on MSDNAA so I can bung it on the media center, but it hasn't yet.
I'm getting increasingly annoyed with MCE 2005 and its various quirks. Hardware support for my tuners has now reached a point where I'm going to try Ubuntu + MythTV.
why would you expect beta version licensing to work on the production ready product ?
It is Inevitable.....
RC1 keys won't work for the RTM build.
I'm not certain if RC2 also needed "RTM" keys, I never installed that build (jumped from RC1 to RTM and got my new keys).
~ I have CDO. It's like OCD except the letters are in alphabetical order, as they should be. ~

As mentioned above, you'll need RTM keys. You RC key won't work on RTM.
Its quite annoying, we have been waiting for Vista to show on MSDN for awhile but resently found out we will only get Business and Enterprise... no Ultimate

Well you have to remember why its there
the MSDNAA is there to give you the software you need for your course. Giving us Business (and enterprise if thats also going to be released for us) gives you all the features of ultimate except for the ultimate extras and media centre - neither of which you need for developing university level applications or for doing general university work.
The real MSDN on the other hand is aimed at people developing applications that are going to be released in the real world (so to speak), so they need every single possible version of windows to test against.
Personally I think its very generous of microsoft to release anything other than home premium to the MSDNAA - remember you don't pay a penny for it
Home premium would be a tad harsh, given the lack of facility to join a domain.
True I did forget that But business/enterprise is still more than enough..
