There is an opensource version of flash underway apparently, and Sun is suppose to be going the same way too with it's JRE.

the flash problem is due to the OIJ interface for java plugins not being (until recently, anyway) 64-bit clean

I actually don't know - given the resource increase for 64-bit processes over their 32-bit counterparts, unless 64-bit addressing is required then you might end up with less ROI (I'm thinking Terminal Servers here rather than workstations - less users per server if each user takes up more space).
I don't have source code access for Office to check unfortunately (only Windows).

I will get Vista 64bit. I'll be dual booting XP 32bit and eventually Vista 32bit I spose, so if I can't do something on Vista, I'll just reboot

I think I'll be buying Windows Vista Ultimate - Upgrade Edition as an upgrade from my Windows XP MCE because it offers me much more flexibility than the OEM. If I were to purchase the OEM, I'd have to choose 32bit or 64bit and I'd be tied down to only using it on one PC.

However, if I purchase the Upgrade Edition, it will contain both 32bit and 64bit versions on the same disc. Therefore, I'll be able to use it as 32bit on my current PC. When I upgrade my PC later this year, I'll be able to use the same disc on my new PC and install the 64bit version.
Only the full retail version has the 32bit and 64bit versions on, the upg version will be one or the other not both.

I need to check our uni's MSDN and see if we have Vista on there yet. Really want to have a play with the final version.

Have spent most of this week playing with office 2007, and im very very impressed. The ribbon is excellent. Just at the right time too as my mom is learning how to use a PC. Its certainly a lot more friendly

We've got a load of licenses in for Office 2007 at work. I'm loving the ribbon too...the down side is staff training. DOH!

Vista's chess game is cr*p, I'm just an average player but beat it on the first game. Still can't beat Fritz7 though.

we've got what sounds like 32-bit business, but i'm having arguments with my superior ATM about software licensing, so don't really feel like rocking the boat by tracking down a license key

Same at Leeds Met too. I'll probably just end up buying it on OEM since I'm buying a new system within the next month, and I'm in my final year of uni anyway.

I found drivers a real pain with 64bit. Especially the driver signing. I'll be running 32bit initially.
