Re: Football Premier League 09/10- Discussion Thread

    Today's round-up-

    Aston Villa 0-2 Wigan
    Blackburn 0-2 Man City
    Bolton 0-1 Sunderland
    Chelsea 2-1 Hull
    Everton 1-6 Arsenal
    Portsmouth 0-1 Fulham
    Stoke 2-0 Burnley
    Wolverhampton 0-2 West Ham

A little surprised with Everton but Arsenal played very well. Also its been a somewhat strange day with most teams winning away from home.

Happy with the Arsenal result, but rather annoyed at the same time as I don't believe Everton provided a challenge I'd call "Worthy".

Got to love the Arsenal man, just ordered the away kit with Vermalaen on the back. Was a great performance from the lads, all sorts can be said about Everton but Everton looked bad because Arsenal made them look bad. 50/50's, arial battles, we won most of them. I hope we can carry this momentum into Parkhead at the game with the Celts.

Not too sure about liverpools performace though. Again it was weird tactics from Benitez, and in the end instead of analysing why his team had no shot on target int he 1st half he slates the ref for the disallowed pen... They need Gerrard to play in a deeper postition and let Kuyt partner Torres. You cant expect one man two be in 2 different places on the pitch.

I agree that Vermalaen does look like a tidy defender.

2nd half of last season, Liverpool were playing good attacking football, seems Rafa has gone back to his old defensive stance. They are definitely missing Alonso's passing ability.

Well chuffed with Arsenal, as always the case with them though, what happens when one of the center backs is injured? They need to sign a defender quick or we'll ever be able to keep up with the top teams.
That's why football manager is so good, i can buy defenders for Arsenal

I think Song is more then capable to be a center-back if needs be, not to mention Djorou who showed he could handle himself last season.

Re: Football Premier League 09/10- Discussion Thread

Yeah but one chop to Vermalaen and Gallas, then Song will have to play CH with Sylvestre. I break a cold sweat everytime that mans wearing the red and white. Song I think is one or the other, he cannot be both.

Right now I wouldnt mind who we brought as we just need some depth defense wise. We have more than enough depth to chase a game if needed, which is why Im suprised alot of 'pundits' have tipped Pool for the title. If torres is injured who they got for cover, Voronin the over weight Petit look alike?

Birmingham got dominated. Fletcher really should have killed the game off at the end of the first half.

That and Owen's last minute shocker. I'm no striker but I could have put that chance away!

Not bad, made some nice touches and passes as usual but that was about it really. I don't know what the problem is exactly and I noticed this last year, is that we don't 'finish' teams off. We often score 1 goal and then lack the killer instinct to put the game to bed, whether thats due to our midfield or strike force I am not sure.

Too true haha! The thing about Berbie is I think he lacks the work rate to play well in the Man U team, although his understanding of the game, vision and first touch are top notch.

Oh and 0-2 to the Arsenal at Parkhead! i dont think Celtic will plan any better than that all season and they got beat 2-0.. its a good job van persie left his shooting boots at home or it could have been 4 easily..
