Can I ask – how do Germany do the terracing with no problems – I watched a few games on the telly recently (Dortmund and Schalke) and the atmosphere at worst could be described as unbelievable!!!!! We could definitely learn a thing or two about how they setup and manage their support in Germany – the players even do the whole hold hands and bow at the end of each game :]

Re: Football Premier League 09/10- Discussion Thread

I will try not to sound bitter here after many heralded Almunia for 'saving' our title hopes against West Ham and then having screwed up yesterday that thought seems all but a distant memory.

There were mistakes in the centre of the defence, it is true, as a straightforward punt created panic, but when Phillips hurried his effort straight at Almunia he could not have believed his eyes as the keeper appeared to stumble into the save and succeed only in parrying the ball into his own goal. It was calamitous, and sadly far from his only blunder this season. Best left there I think. No point in overdoing the criticism. We know we don’t have a viable alternative and we have to hope he holds it together in the remaining games.

So, on a day when Chelsea and Manchester United strengthened their goal difference further, we dropped a point in one of the most difficult of our remaining fixtures. How very Arsenal to put us in this position. A defeat, I suspect, would have sounded the death knell of our title challenge, but typically they have left us a scrap of hope, although we do now need both of our rivals to suffer unexpected reverses.

grrrr - West Ham really are having a laugh..........

    http://www.skysports.com/story/0,195...068339,00.html

The reason for our "weakened team" was not just because we face a stern test playing Wolfsburg tonight, we also had lingering fitness issues with Zamora, and in truth we only rested 2 players Duff/Murphy. Its like they are trying to say we rested the majority of our team which is rubbish.

Will really feel no sympathy if West Ham end up getting relegated this season

I don't see the problem with teams resting players, it's ridiculous how people have made such a big deal about this. Especially after McCarthy did it against United.
It's not like you/they have been fielding players who have never played, you are using your squad. Everyone knew you would rest key players for Wolfsburg, its a much more important fixture for you.
I doubt anything will happen, West Ham are bitter because they're a yo-yo team now.

I still think its ridiculous their manager gave them 3 days off before a massive game against Everton, and in a relagation battle.

This is silly, Fulham have played over 50 games this season, and considering they are not in a relegation battle they are well within their rights to rest key players for their upcoming europa match.

West Ham is a quality club, a real community club that I think has respect from much of England. However the two new clowns in charge will do them no favors as they seek the limelight and every single opportunity.

What are the odds a second Wembley winner in three seasons for Kanu? It’s not like he hasn’t scored against Chelsea before.

Re: Football Premier League 09/10- Discussion Thread

The scaremongers in the City and in Fleet Street would have people believe Arsenal are on the verge on an apocalyptic takeover. Lady Nina Bracewell-Smith, having fallen foul of the board some time ago, has hired someone to sell her 16% stake in the club - having presumably had little success with the eBay listing she was originally using.

The story, in as far as there is one, is that she has contracted this firm and allowed it to become public, thus ’stepping up’ her attempts to shift her shares. Why now? Well, the answer, s a simple one: if Stan Kroenke were to buy before the end of May, he’d be obliged to pay the £10,500 p/share he paid to the Carr family. She’s simply trying to cash in.

To be frank, it’s hard to imagine that Stan has the necessary funds to do such a deal, especially having only yesterday confirmed that he’ll completing his buyout of NFL franchise the St. Louis Rams.

Lady Nina finds herself sitting on a golden egg in a room full of gold-allergic vegans. It’s stalemate.

Not for Arsenal it isn't. Hapless capitulation.

Fantastic weekend for entertainment (other than the previous 90 minutes of the Manchester game).
