    Post Christmas warmup/workout

Well i forced myself to do some exercise today after doing literally none what so ever for the past week over Christmas. I went for one of my shorter bike rides, plenty of hill climbs, some off road - it was painful. I'm going to mix up some running, cycling and weights in the next few days before returning to work and try and shed some of the christmas excess.

How is everyone else planning to ease themselves back into shape? Is anyone else struggling or is it just me? I know i have over indulged over the holiday period, only have myself to blame

    Re: Post Christmas warmup/workout

Main problem I've been having is the cold, means getting the motivation to go out cycling is that much harder. I was fine for most of the winter in my summer gear, but with the freezing weather recently I really need something warmer. Either that or I just need to pedal harder
I don't mean to sound cold, or cruel, or vicious, but I am so that's the way it comes out.

    Re: Post Christmas warmup/workout

Went for my first proper outing on the bike since before Christmas today, couldn't resist a ride in the snow! Ended up doing 24 miles, about 4 miles off-road up in the hills and 10 miles on road each way to get there and back.

Riding through the snow was much harder than expected, probably should have expected that there would be more snow if I have a 300m increase in altitude. Ended up with having both derailluers frozen solid leaving me stuck in one gear and the valves on my inner tube has frozen up too, so I couldn't pump my tyres back up after letting a lot of air out on the way up to try and get some grip!

Although it sounds like a total failure, it was actually really fun messing around up there and especially on the way back down Fell off plenty of times in the snow, but at least it's nice and soft

Here's a couple of the pictures I managed to get while up there:
