Have just bought a new Shuttle SD31P XPC. Everything assembled fine (Pentium 830D 1GB RAM, SATA in AHCI Mode, Nvidia GeForce 7600 GS). Very fast and so far very pleased.

One problem. When the built in card reader is attached internally - the POST (and XPC splash screen) take 1 minute and 15 seconds to complete. VERY slow. When I disconnect the built in card reader - POST and splash screen time is about 10 seconds.

Any ideas? After either the slow or fast POST the OS loads fine and the machine runs ok.

With the card reader attached, and after the slow POST, the card reader appears to be functioning fine - have inserted SD memory modules and they seem to be working (although I confess I've not tried to transfer data yet - since the card reader is currently unplugged).

Any ideas as to why the attached card reader would be causing such a slow (and irritating) POST?
