    Another belly fat thread

Ok, well I've lost over a stone since I pretty much cut out white bread and cut down my portion sizes, I also drink next to no alchohol these days.

I've lost about 2 inches from my waist.

I wanna get rid of the gut tho.

I was thinking eating enough to get me by without actually starving myself, and then tone myself up afterwards.
As far as excersise goes I do MMA type stuff once a week and I'm gonna start on the bike again.

Excercise the only way to shift it. Avoiding eating isn't going to help.

To put it into perspective, I'm currently eating something every 3 hours, yet my weight remains a fairly constant thing (71kg +/- 1kg). However, I'm in the gym 4 times a week.

Bike will help, I'm fan of HIIT stuff, be it on the bike, treadmill or round the lakes. You need to be doing something thats going to be regularly burning that fat away.

Stop snacking and perhaps start doing sit ups if you just want to do your stomach. Progresively more each day until you end up doing them for a set time instead of counting them.

Russians are usually quite thin so perhaps moderate violumes of excessively strong alcohol may help.

To remove gut, you have to change your diet.

You will also need to do cardio BUT you can't dictate where the fat will be lost (i.e. it might not come from the gut).

    Re: Another belly fat thread

I've found similar issue to you Trig.

I've lost around a stone and a half since I 'cut down'. I did a more intense cutback to begin with but seem to have levelled out now.

As far as exercise is concerned, I do mainly fast-pace walking and cycling, but seem to lack tone - especially around the abdomen.

I hate sit ups and I suppose they're the surefire way to aid that?

not really. A person might have super-tight abs / be super strong in that region, but appear quite flabby on the outside - was watching some UFC last night, some of them MMA fighters LOOK outa shape but aren't.

Only solution is cardio work, as has been suggested. Need to go running / biking longer distances, multiple times a week. Weight will fall off. Get pulse right up and keep it there. Or you could do aerobics...

The body is amazing in that the weight will first come off INTERNALLY, from around your organs etc, which is most important for health, and then from 'outside'. And there is no way to target loss region.
One can never stop saying Thank You

    Re: Another belly fat thread

To be fair the sit up thing doesnt bother me as its part of the MMA training we do anyways as the abs are used when on your back for many reasons.

As for the p90x thing, I'm not really looking for some false way to trick my body into using its fat or dropping it I'd rather just do it by changing how I eat (the breakfast like a king etc route) and what I eat (dropping white bread etc) and a bit more activity. Never been a fan of the try this for 90 days crap where they photoshop some skinny dude. Eat right, excercise, look after yourself and your sorted..

    Re: Another belly fat thread

i did it for 40 days before falling ill, i lost about 21lbs and there were obvious muscle gains all over my body. Put most of it back on due to a diet of pizza and Rosé though...

    Re: Another belly fat thread

    Personally I found swapping to a more glycemic based diet helped considerably, without me having to significantly reduce my calorific intake;

    1. Swap complex (cereals) to simple Carbs (veg) through the day
    2. Larger meals in morning and at lunch rather than having a big evening meal

Your body has a natural rhythmn to what it does so if you eat energy dense food in the evening it will store it rather than use it, as its winds down to go into "sleep mode".

he means start on cereals and complex stuff in the am.. and as the day progresses lessen them, replacing them with veg and fruit as the day progresses. Don't eat any complex carbs after about 3pm.

    Re: Another belly fat thread

I wouldn't advise exercising afterwards, you need to be doing it during to decrease the risk of having more excess/loose skin. You need to burn off your fat, whilst still doing toning exercises so lots of cardio mixed with toning exercises like sit ups, resistance training and maybe even use some weights - kettlebells are great as you tone and burn at the same time.
