    Anyone Airsoft?

Just started going after being nagged at by a mate who said I would love it and he was bloody right too been about 5 times in the last six weeks although its got a tad expensive as I've now forked out about 500 quid on a couple of guns and gear etc. Its also go me active and running around and being a lot more active than I have been (although if I told my surgeon he would have kittens I think!

Been playing @ the Mall in Reading which is a fantastic CQB site in a disused shopping centre in the centre of Reading and its great fun.

    Re: Anyone Airsoft?

I'm from North Wales and gave it a go a few years ago, but found it to be a bit expensive considering I was relying on pocket money at the time as my main source of income. Where I played it was essentially a little forest and it was December, so that also may have put me off a bit!

    Re: Anyone Airsoft?

Although I've owned several over the years i've never actually been, one just over the bridge from here as well!

Can't buy the guns any more unless you're registered at a site, is that still correct? God I loved my P90 and my g-spec!

    Re: Anyone Airsoft?

I was actually looking into this over the weekend as The Mall is pretty close. In fact, I'm thinking of turning up Sunday to give it a bash. From what I understand, you need to be registered with the UKARA (IIRC) before being allowed to buy Realistic Imitation Firearms. To be registered, you have to play at least 3 games at a registered site in between 2-12 months.

    Re: Anyone Airsoft?

I used to play quite alot, but it has been over a year since my last skirmish.

It's a properly expensive hobby though which is partly why I was put off, but still generally cheaper than paintball.

    Better too.

    Re: Anyone Airsoft?

I used to before I moved here but I wouldn't have bothered if they'd had the silly laws then.

Now I like my targets to be more cardboard and my steel a little more real.

Not strictly true, you can buy a RIF without a licence, but you have to paint I believe it is 50% of the gun in a bright colour, usually a disgusting green colour. However, with the Mall, which I believe might be a First and Only site, you have to register/ show interest in the site, you can just show up, but if you cant take your own RIF, you have to let them know and they still supply you with one, last time I went we were given "stubby" M4's, fully metal, only downside is you only get one magazine, while these generally hold a lot of ammo, it quickly runs out in a fire fight or two!

Would this be the site owned and ran by First and Only?

But, yeah I go to airsoft have been two or three times so far, first time was a year or two ago, but have been once this year already which was, at the time, the new Bolton Woodland site, was an awesome day with awesome weather and great fun!

Going this weekend to Anzio Camp, which is an old disused camp or something like that, so that should be an awesome day as well, me and two mates go regular, I generally find the events are well run and the price isn't too bad and neither is the food!. Hoping to get a good few airsoft days in this year, get me registered, then I can hopefully get myself a RIF, hopefully an M4, possibly SOP modded.

Every time I go, I get nervous about the BB's hurting, but as soon as you hear the first snap of the guns firing, the BB's hitting the tree's and people scream "ahhh *naughty word* (i edited that out) hit" then its a case of sod the pain, I want some of that action!

Best shot - hip fired the M4 and hit a guy half a dozen times up his side, stupid sniper standing up
