    800D or TJ07 ? Also SSD ?

Sold my TJ09 to a mate for £80 so i need to buy a new case on tuesday, ive been forced to use a regular sized enermax case (lol?), but i do want some aluminium goodness back on my desktop.

What you reckon guys ? OR..if theres a cheaper case i could buy an SSD..but which one ? After seeing my mates OCZ summits in RAID 0 yesterday i want an SSD !

Or is there a nice LIAN li ?

Depending on how much boot space you'll need, what about the 40GB Intel drives? Or the 80GB if you feel you'd need a bit more space..

I have 2 of the Intel's and they're amazing! One for the OS and programs and one for games and large programs. Blindingly fast, silent, and absolutely brilliant for games .

Got a link ? Was only going to really use it for OS, i have a samsung 322HJ single platter, i was going to buy another and run them in RAID 0 for programs/games, the SSD (or pair) were going to be used for OS and a few other tasks like file decompression.

    STOLEN FROM Ulti - Cheaper 40GB - http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/40GB-...-70MB-s-Retail

    40GB - http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/40GB-...ite-35MB-s-OEM

    80GB - http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/80GB-...s-Write-70MB-s

They both come on the Today Only very often though, usually for about £15 - 25 cheaper, so I'd wait for that if you decide to get one.

I'm pretty sure he meant the Intel X25-V 40GB and Intel X25-M 80GB.

EDIT: Oops too late and I got the wrong 40GB model.

Seems the lower capacity one isn't as fast either? Not sure. According to Scan's listings at least.

The Corsair Nova and OCZ Vertex ones are just as good as the Intel ones, from what I've read. They both use the same controller (as do some other makes, not sure which). The Corsair Nova 64gig one is around £150 on Scan's Today Only right now, which is pretty good value.

Though the Intel ones may indeed be the way to go if you're looking at RAID 0'ing them. As far as I know the Intels are the only ones which support TRIM in RAID.

Worth checking about the speed difference between the X25-V and X25-M though. No point spending the price of an 80GB on RAID 0'ing 2 40GBs if it turns out they're slower anyway.

Intel are slower when it comes to the sequential reads etc but when it comes to an OS drive they excel in random writes.

No SSD supports TRIM in RAID, the Intel now just support TRIM on a single SSD when RAID is being used on other drives. Although it is said that TRIM support will be coming soon to RAID SSDs.

Two X25-V perform marginally better than an X25-M 80GB, up to you wether RAID is worth the hassle of 1-2% gain.

Yes, I'm just waiting for the RAID0 SSD TRIM thingy to come out.. Then mine are getting combined!

Hmmm, well yesterday we RAID 0'd a set of OCZ summits 60gb jobbies i think (that he only paid £70quid each for), ran the cmd command and it returned the result "0" that trim was running ? No other drives in the system, using windows 7.

Nobody any advice on a case either , must be able to fit my H50 somewhere too.

Yeah, that's a problem with them "TRIM Checkers".. They still say it's running even if it isn't. Totally useless imo.

SSDs should have a small LED on them for when TRIM is running, then that'd sort things out.

I shall have to tell him then, as im pretty sure he wanted Trim running.

The results though (not sure how) ended up at 300mbs write, 400mb read !?

Budget? Is the only requirement that it must be Aluminium and fit a H50?

Those speeds sound about right aswell.

Well..if i was looking at a TJ07 (god knows WHY they cost so much!?) then i doubt an SSD would be on the cards tbh, dont wanna skint myself.

The 800D..might allow for a cheap ssd if i fancy treating myself.

OR another case (suggestions..and none of the Antec range please) which would then possibly allow a nicer ssd.

But that doesn't really matter, it's the random reads and writes that are what you want in an SSD. They're what you notice.. That is the cheaper one though, the more expensive one can do 70mb/s write and 250mb/s read.
