SSD suggestions please Sandforce or not?

Ive been looking at this one also considered the force gt version but Im told sandforce drives have had there fare share of problems ive even seen that in some reviews which actually is what swayed me more towards the more expensive gt version. So I was wondering are these issues now resolved is it safe to buy the force 3 sure the gt is quicker but sincerely doubt I will notice the difference. Also are there any other suggestions as to what to buy instead of the corsair im open to all suggestions it just seem corsiar have fairly decent customer support which is always nice.

If it is non compressible data, The speed probably won't be much different.

    Kingston V+100 96gb.

Other may be faster, but nothing is better value.

Re: SSD suggestions please Sandforce or not?

ALL reasonable SSDs are fast, the difference between an m4 and Sandforce is like the difference between 2 similar spinny hard drives, hard to tell outside of benchmarks, some of which the m4 wins, some of which a Sandforce drive could win.

I think the m4 is more consistent, no problems with incompressable data and does well in a lot of real world benchmarks - there is more to life than sequential transfer speed.

Yeah I see your point kingpotnoodle thanks i think the incompressible data issue might just swing it for the m4.

Re: SSD suggestions please Sandforce or not?

I'm really not a fan of Sandforce. Check out the OCZ forums for a lot of good info as to the incompressible "issues". Some people have huge speed loss after a few weeks of use if used "wrong" due to the Durawrite kicking in. The one I had was slower when copying files from one location to another across the same drive than a normal 5400rpm HDD :\. They are great when used as intended, but if you deviate from the 'norm', even briefly, they get really upset.

I would personally go for the M4 any day. Just use it as a normal HDD and it doesn't care. It's consistent. That matters to me.

Re: SSD suggestions please Sandforce or not?

Thanks for the suggestions guys I think Ill go with the M4 I have read so many reviews my head feels like it will explode but the M4 does seem to have more consistent results and as you say Agent the m4 can be used more as a normal drive which ultimately is what I will be doing with it.

Good choice, you won't be disappointed with the performance and it should be consistent un-like the sandforce controllers

Re: SSD suggestions please Sandforce or not?

I installed my m4 yesterday which was recommended to me on this forum. All I can say is wow.
My boot time from cold is now 24 seconds with all my installed apps and start up items!
Fallout NV is the only game I've tested with it and the load times on that are unreal!

I have no experience with another SSD's but the m4 seems decent.
