Help with what to do with HDD after installing windows 7 to SSD

I basically want the HDD to store all my entertainment as well as holding back ups and system files.

The HDD was the primary boot disc so it has automatically partitioned into a "System Reserved" volume and another general volume.

Would it be advisable to keep the system reserved volume on the HDD just in case anything goes wrong with the SSD or simply reformat the entire thing? If reformatting the entire HDD, how do you remove the partition?

Also, if reformatted, would it be a good idea to partition to a back up volume and general data volume?

Sorry about how long winded this is but I'm really confused.

HDD: Seagate Barracuda 2TB SSD: Samsung 830 256GB

When you install windows to the ssd it will create a system reserved volume again regardless of its existence or not. So if you can and got everything backed up outside, just format and delete both the HDD and the system reserved volume for it and create 1 or 2 partitions out of the non-partitioned drive. This is on the same screen where it asks where do you want to install windows.

Can't really say much about partitioning that HDD. In my opinion a back up is better out of the system.

search for disk management in the search box and adjust the hard drive as you want

Thanks that makes it much simpler =)

Also I've configured the SSD to RAID to allow for the Intel Rapid Storage Technology but I have no idea how to actually activate it. Any pointers? Also what does it actually do? I just read that it makes it uses SSD caching which I can only assume that it makes it faster

Also would it be better to install the antivirus on the HDD since it has to constantly update or just leave it on the SSD along with the other programs?

Just install all apps on the SSD. Makes them all run faster.

Writing will wear it down, but it should still take quite some years, specially considering TRIM which makes it so data is evenly written across the drive. Prevents it from writing the same spot all the time.
