Angry [SOLVED] N5200PRO FW 2.00.15 problem

    Hello,

I upgraded my N5220PRO from FW 2.00.14 to 2.00.15 last week. Everything works except i am unable to install any modules. when i select, for example, IP cam module and click on install, it prompts with confirmation and then nothing happens. Do i need to enable some setting before i can install any module ?

Has anyone upgraded to FW 2.00.15 and are able to install modules ?

Is there a way i can downgrade to 2.00.14 ? i tried but it said not allowed.

    Thanks
    Deepak

    Re: N5200PRO FW 2.00.15 problem

I have FW 2.00.15 and module installation works fine.
It seems that the module database is corrupted or something else happened witth Your module folders. There are 2 possibilities:
    1) use the RENMOD module, apply it as firmware patch and reboot. This module will clean the module database and folders and upon reboot the structure and the database is build from scratch (this works at least for user modules)
    2) downgrade is possible with the help of an USB stick a nice script and the firmware bin file.
See following link for the script and a description (You'll find also the RENMOD module there):
    http://www.futterknecht.at/index.php...-usefull-stuff

If You don't need ADS on a Windows 2008 server or Samba Version 3.0.33, then FW 2.00.15 is no improvement.

    Re: N5200PRO FW 2.00.15 problem

    Hello Peter,

Thanks for your quick reply. I tried the following

    1. Used RENMOD and applied it as firmware patch - the symptoms are still the same while installing any module (all it does is, after confirming ok to install returns back to the modules screen without doing anything).
    2. downgraded to 2.00.14 using factory_test.sh - still unable to install any modules.

I wonder the DOM needs to be formatted and installed with a fresh 2.00.14 image.

I have opened a ticket with support, let me see what they suggest.

    Thanks again
    Deepak

    Just to be sure:
You use the mod files which are packed in the zip files for the installation?

    Re: N5200PRO FW 2.00.15 problem

The support rep from Thecus was able to install the ip cam module but i am still unable to install any other modules. i am wondering how come the support rep installed ip cam module while i tried to install N5200_Module:_UTILS from onbeat.dk nothing happens.

Could it be the DOM is faulty or corrupted ?

    Re: N5200PRO FW 2.00.15 problem

All the module data is stored on the RAID as opposed to the DOM, so I doubt it would be that.

Have they installed it via web interface or via remote login with ssh?
If they have done it via ssh, then it's no real soultion of the general module installation problem.

And the DOM could be damaged in the area the module installation scripts are located.

    Re: N5200PRO FW 2.00.15 problem

They installed it with ssh but the support rep claims that he installed it via web interface. I know for sure they used ssh to install because they asked me to open additional port for ssh access. Also I was told to check the browser security settings, while i have tried installing from various operating system with various browser combnations (XP/Vista/OS X/IE/Firefox/Safari)

This was purchased recently, i guess i have to request an RMA for the DOM.

Thanks for the update - have You also tried the SSHD module and the SYSUSER ?
This modules are anyay required for using the UTILS module.

Thumbs up Re: N5200PRO FW 2.00.15 problem

    Hello Peter,

Thanks for suggesting different options during my troubleshooting. As it turns out i have been trying to install the zip file directly in the "module management" section instead of installing with the .mod file. Once i used .mod file everything worked fine, silly me
