n2200 won't update using so caled 'smart utility'...

***SOLVED*** - see below


I submitted a ticket to Thecus 2 days ago, no response as of yet so I thought I'd see if anyone here had any ideas? Thanks in advance!

The Smart Utility (I'm using version v1.00.12) fails to initialise the RAID on the device. I have the latest version of the firmware N2200_FW_3.00.07E.bin in the folder as described in the FAQ

The first step using manual install (have tried one-click too) says "Installed HDD already.... clean all data.... [Proceed]" - I click proceed
It then gives a message "System is loading software please wait"
After a few seconds I get the error "FTP errorError: 451 Error: No such file or directory" - I click OK and get "Upgrade Thread Fail!"

I have tried running the System Setup with the ROM itself renamed to firmware_N2200 (says no ROM found), without the up to date ROM in the folder (rename folder to C:\Program Files\Thecus\Thecus Smart Utility\firmware_N2200.old) and it just says "ROM file not found" and the "Upgrade Thread Fail!" message box.

I can ping the drive at 192.168.1.2 (assigned by router DHCP)

Previously, I got a different error about an FTP timeout, error 451, but that seems to have passed.

Help?!

Ha. After the other day's 2 hr frustration session, and just to prove me wrong, I was bored so tried again today, and it worked first time... WTF?!

I guess it was just grumpy from being in the box all that time....
