New member with a simple question

I need to know that when buying- a Pentium Core duo 2 laptop that comes with Wind-Vista- I can remove Vista and replace it with Windows 7 as soon as it becomes available. Is this hardware good enough for upcoming Windows 7? Right now anyone buying a laptop at Future Shop in Montreal is getting Vista. My question is whether I can just switch to Windows buy bying and installing it in 2010.

I`d appreciate if you can send reply to me directly:

I would answer, but really this is the wrong forum. You should have posted this in here: http://forums.hexus.net/operating-systems-applications/

Re: New member with a simple question

welcome to HEXUS but as Funky has said this is the wrong forum to be posting questions in, this is purely a 'hello, and a bit of info for you about HEXUS' forum

    again, welcome to HEXUS

and in answer to your question :- there are no fixed hardware requirements for windows 7 so it is impossible to give a categoric answer..

Re: New member with a simple question

as TackyTak said - it isnt out yet, we just don't know what hardware it will require, it could be highly optimised and run on my PC for heavens sake. or it could run worse than crysis..

and 2010 is just a guess at the release date, it could slip a couple of years/decades.. just look how long service pack 3 for XP took..

as said before: unfortunately there is no way to give an accurate answer...

theres such upheaval going on and optimised speeds around the corner (points wildly at upcoming nehalem [i7]) that all that can be said is... it could do... like vista can run on a 2004 machine... just not very well...

things in the tech world move on too quickly so it is impossible to predict upcoming software
