I do actually, what other uses for a plane is there other than when you feel like doing a bit of DIY and decide to put some new doors up but you realise after the delivery guy has turned up and buggered off that they're too big and you have to use one to trim 5 inchs off the each edge so that it'll fit the hole?

    Welcome!

By the way, NicktheNorse, his names Nick, he's from Norway, pure genius.

Either return em, or mark off the excess and trim it evenly from all sides. Be careful though, as some doors arent solid wood but essentially hardboard and cardoard sandwiches... trim off too much and you'll be into the cavity in the door. 5" is a hell of a lot though, so I'd say that you need a narrower door, it might be better to go back and get them instead.

One thing I've wondered though it how to sahve ACROSS the grain at the top of the door. My plane is fine for the majority of the door top but useless where the uprights of the door show the end of the wood grain... how do I ease that down keeping a tidy egde and maintinaing a snug fit in the frame?

ps, welcome btw, nice pics of the event today... next time, come over and say hello to us all..... I was the guy helping people try and frag Fatal1ty on the stage... and fiddling with the HEXUS rig in spare moments....
