    Antec NeoHE 550?...

    Reading up to buy a sensible power supply - I came across this unit

    Noise load seems to be around 33db, no matter what the load, which is much less than the CPU fans I have been looking at - so I guess it will (effectively) be silent

    At ~270w it is 89% efficient and when pushed up to ~340w load it only drops to 77%

    Also, it has a modular cable system, which should help airflow etc

    Only thing is, this is just research - I have never spoken to someone who has used one

    Any HEXites have an opinion ?

    Hi Bania. I bought the 430 WATT version just yesterday.

    I can't speak from a technical perspective as i dont know much about PSU's, i can only offer a subjective view of it;

    The PSU is incredibly quiet, much quieter then a couple of other PSU's i tried which had 'silent' or 'noiseless' in their titles. Check out my review of said product on the YYT website - http://www.yoyotech.co.uk/product_in...de8fc3bac77132

    I think noise is one that you probably already have the 'specialist equipment' and 'years of experience' for

    lol i can only speak from years of hating the noise of fans and being obsessive with eliminating 'noise'

    Weird thing is that I did not give a crap for years...

    ...but now it does bother me

    Which is strange - cos your ears are supposed to fail when you get really old

    Thanks for taking the time to write up your review. These PSUs have been very popular and we are really happy with them. Bania's problem is that the Sugo has a lot of fancy holes in the chassis, which means you need to be a little more careful with component selection than normal.

    Just noticed that you are changing fan and PSU. These sit right over each other. Please bring the whole box in so that you can fit the PSU while you are in the store and make sure that your new fan fits. Will only take ten minutes and save you a lot of grief.
