I would have thought it would be less than 15 year to be honest.

The DVDs i have of important data will be dumped in a couple of year and replaced with either BluRay or HD-DVD disks. That way i can have much fewer disks to deal with.

Also if you are woried about disks deteriorating, you can always invest in medical/archival quality DVD-Rs. I don't know how much they are as you can't really get them through normal retailers. But they are supposed to be much more reliable in the long term.

Gonna be buying a SATA RW when I upgrade set up.
    IDE cables are highly annoying.

I can still remember all the lies I was told about SATA by the HDD manufacturers...

...including the 'single cable for both power and data' which I am still not happy about !

I'm wondering does anyone know where to get Taiyo Yuden DVDs in small quantities in London?

Does Yoyotech stock these and if not will they be made available?

My son and I make a lot of music, and there are usually dozens of "takes" before we are happy to convert to mp3, so DVDs are used in abundance here. I also use them to backup my DVD collection as we have youngsters here and my originals are too precious !

Backups of XP settings, my photos, DLd films, video taken on my Canon DV, complete website DLs - all dumped to DVD.
    Cheers, David

I use them for archiving stuff that I probably don't want any more but for the cost a blank may as well keep. I also back up all my movies as well.
