How long B4 YYT no longer stock hard drives ?...

With the 8GB memory stick being humbled by the 16GB - and more to follow...

...any guesses as to how long before YoYoTech's shelves are no longer home to hard drives ?

A fair few years, they still stock floppies in the majority of big stores and they have been old tech for a while now.

Although memory sticks are great and everything.. I can't see them being used as reasonable replacements for Hard Drives. Hard Drives are still advancing forward in technology, and even though 16GB Memory sticks sound very nice, until the interface is changed to something like E-Sata they won't have a chance to match anywhere near HDD speeds or sizes.

750GB HDD are now available for purchase and HDD that run at 15,000RPM and transfer at 3GB/s are also available (Seagate Cheaters). I think the Memory sticks are more likely to replace CD-Roms and DVD-Roms then HDDs.
