If you are overclocking the P5Q-E is the minimum you want. Just look at how many e/sata ports and other features you think you will need.

With a 1600MHz FSB the plain old P5Q will be a decent enough overclocker, as is the PRO. The -E is the nicest balance of features and price and the deluxe is deffinatly aimed at overclockers.
But chances are if you have have a Q6600 you won't ever go over 1600MHz (400MHz) anyway.

Looking for a internal card reader and a 24" LCD with DVI.
Will I need some artic silver stuff as I plan on overclocking. At tips as I havent done any overclocking for along time
Nice Not sure how quiet the GTX is but otherwise it will be a very cool running and super quiet system.
Only thing I would change is the hard drive, to a WD 640GB, but if you need the space you need it, both perform around the same anyway
shrek101 (31-08-2008)
Is that because it has 2 x 320gb platters?
I want space tbh as I want a new system rather than using to much from old. Daughter is getting my old pc. Dual core 2 2.4ghz
Well the 640 is 2 x 320GB yeah but I believe the 1TB is 3 x 335 (something like that) anyway so both perform very well
I just prefer WD really
Although having said I've never had a sammy up until now, I took a part a fairly old machine and low and behold.. a trooper of a 200GB IDE
shrek101 (31-08-2008)
lol yeah yeah *mumbles 333.3 reccuring, still won't actually be 1TB anyway*
Cheap 24" here
http://www.dabs.com/ProductView.aspx...specifications
It should even be a VA panel but I think some are and some aren't.. some one else might be able to confim that.
shrek101 (31-08-2008)
Yup get 4 x 640gb drives and stick them in a RAID5 array
theoretically... yes... but real world performance difference would be negligible TBH.(you might notice some.. but it's not worth fretting over.). (but i would personally get 2 smaller drives.. as that way, if one dies you still have the other... so you haven't lost all of your files...)
I never use raid tbh. I just need the space I always run out even with 2 usb hard drives with backups and mame etc
If you want a decent 24" then the Dell 2408wfp is awesome. Most are coming with the revised firmware not which limits if not eliminates the input lag people moan about.
I scale firefox's text up these days. Strain my eyes reading from it at default lol
Awesome. Very balanced build
Should be very quiet and the power is more than enough.
The only thing I might change depending on my mood is the motherboard, to the Abit IP-35 PRO maybe.
