It was mentioned in the banter section that maybe some of the general talk could be moved to IRC (internet relay chat) just to keep the forums a bit tidier and after a brief conversation with SiM on IRC i decided to make this thread to point people in the right direction
For those of you that haven't used it before it's easy to set up with clients such as mIRC (standalone) chatzilla (firefox add-on, but still works when firefox isn't open)
mIRC can be downloaded here mIRC: Internet Relay Chat client
chatzilla can be found here https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/16
for Mac users Colloquy: Colloquy: IRC, SILC & ICB Client
Tutorial: Setting up and using IRC with Colloquy — FreeSMUG
I have chatzilla installed because firefox is my main browser. To connect to #hexus.net you need to be connected to quakenet to do this in chatzilla go to preferences -> global settings -> startup and in the auto-connect urls click add and type irc://quakenet/
Then once connected to quakenet either type /j #hexus.net in the chat bar to join the channel or to automatically join the channel on startup go to quakenet (should be under global settings) then in the auto-perform box click add and type /j #hexus.net
If i remember correctly mIRC is a bit simpler because it automatically joins quakenet so you can just type /j #hexus.net in the chat bar and you're ready to go.
So hopefully that's helpful and look forward to seeing people on IRC
Thanks
Andy
