    Exclamation HEXUS IRC Gaming Channels

We have all these servers courtersy of HEXUS, but they're going to get full often unless people play on them. People will only join if there's people already playing (generally). Therefore, it's probably better if those who want to play regualy on the HEXUS servers stick about in IRC. That way, if someone wants a game, then a group of players can join at once. More players will later follow. A server won't get full often if there's only ever a few people playing.

For those who don't know, the current HEXUS game server IPs can be seen below:

    83.142.52.28:28004 = Q4
    83.142.52.28:7777 = UT2004
    83.142.52.28:27025 = CS:S
    83.142.52.28:27960 = COD2
    83.142.52.28:16567 = BF2

At the moment, we have 2 IRC channels on quakenet:
    #hexus.cs (for CS:S)
    #hexus.gaming (for general gaming)

Other channels can be made, like #hexus.bf2 for example, but we need more people in IRC for this to happen. Also, feel free to use #hexus.net while you're at it .

For those who don't know what IRC is, it's basically a big multiplayer notepad . For more info, click here. Just download the client, then click the IRC link in my sig, and we can help your from there .

    See you there guys

We find IRC essential for doing more or less anything in the CS:S clan, so pop along and say hello. Keep in mind that people are often in the channels when away from there computers, so dont be put out if no one responds strait away. Idleing in the nature of IRC.

    IRC channel update!

We now have four gaming channels:
    #hexus.gaming
    #hexus.cs
    #hexus.bf2
    #hexus.ut

If anyone wants to set up any more, then feel free. Please don't set one up just because you can though - at least own the game that you're setting a channel up for .

Just because it's an old protocol doesn't mean it's a bad one. I think you'll find there are probably a lot more easier ways for spreading illegal software and most protocols have a file transfer function nowadays anyway.

It's just an easy way to spread a message to many people at once.

For people who dont want their IRC to look like notepad, get X-Chat.

In the context of match aranging yes, very much so. Haveing an IRC channel per section is useful as far as topics are conserd allowing more tailored information to that game, if you dont fancy ideling in all of them, then the .gaming channel is a good overview.

But then thats just my opinyon, there is a provision for the channels to be used if people want to.

#hexus.cs is the main channel when it comes to gaming to be honest. Because we have upto 25+ people idling in it at times. #hexus.gaming is empty compared and not alot goes on in there. If any one wants to play a game like cs:s, pro evo, TM. bf2 etc it will be arranged in #hexus.cs.
we could move it all in to #hexus.gaming but it doesnt look like thats happening does it.

Ok I haven't used mIRC for a few years now, but since when did you have to pay for it? Are there any free IRC programmes anymore?

I prefer irssi. It seems like x-chat distorts changes the layout of the text a bit. It looks awkward.

Woo! Just won a complete unreal collection (unreal, return to thingy, unreal tournament, ut2003 and ut2004). Might pop on the servers once my skills rise from 'can't dodge jump' to 'only get owned 80 times out of 100'.

Will try to hang out in gaming, but if matches are being organised in CS will have to pop in there.
