Nah....this is about saving dough, for me and for you all.
OK...here goes.
Fact No 1: My Iiyama 22" TFT being switched off with the button on the front makes no difference at all, to letting it do it autpmatically. If I leave it on, and then it self monitors that the PC is off, its power use drops to the same as if I pushed the button myself.
9 Watts use when plugged in but not used, and either I push the button or it goes into pwer saving mode.
45 watts when on Desktop, playing games or whatever (no suprise, the backlight is on al the time)
Quite suprised by the Standby mode being 9w though
Good news:
Nokia Phone Chargers take NO current at all if the phone isn't plugged in, so leaving them on or off makes no difference

Intel Mobo, with a quad core, but clearly this is the chipset and mobo monitoring stuff. But PC is OFF and not is hibernate.
33W for a PC that's not on!
I'll check the other PC's now

So...unplug power bricks (I do normally anyway)

Needs unplugging...in a big way, when not in use.

157 W at Desktop
245W when folding SMP on all 4 cores
Gaming: 310W when loading levels (WD drives drawing power)
270W when playing (yup....single core gaming with video card uses more juice than folding)
Windows Key back to Desktop, with game running in background 197W
So, roughly 70W for my Card to run 3d games

If you turn off the MAINS plug, it is ZERO power use. It really does cut the power. But I leave everything plugged in and switched on.
I'm turning stuff off on the units themselves.
Cheapo Creative 2.1 Speakers (3W per channel plus little bass box)
9W standby !
12W in use.
So.....3 times as much power as my Itrigue (same company) but fractionally as "powerful"
madness....utter madness, but uber interesting.
