    Through the looking glass...

As regular readers will know I have been plagued by a recalcitrant GSOD issue with my new XFX 5870. I have tried a stream of drivers 10.2, 10.3 beta, 10.3a and 10.3 WHQL. I've played with all sorts of settings to no avail, and have finally resorted to asking for a RMA code from XFX.

Of course whilst I'm waiting for the code I have continued trying different combinations, and can tell you that I think I have finally achieved a non-crashing system ! It still stutters on occasion, and looks as if it wants to crash, but like the king in the Tale of Sir Lancelot this castle has stayed up ! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yC-kHq5IC3U

Interestingly the 10.3 betas are far more stable than any of the others, and when all other games are patched...work ! The bad news, is that the 10.2 and 10.3 WHQL versions both cause the card to crater quite spectacularly. Roll on the new week and my RMA code, having briefly seen a working system, I'm very keen to get it all working as it should.

    Or possibly Atari.

such a shame that you're having grief bud... new cards = excitement .. but unstable systems caused by them = maximum sadness

Aye - there's been much cursing under my breath in the viral household.
