    Re: Spore!

Arrived this morning in the mail and I've been playing it pretty much all day - managed to get from amoeba to space stage and unlocked a whole bunch of badges, it's really not that complex.

The evolution bit is very short and rather pointless, as you get informed when you are making the final change to your race's appearance anyway, and can completely redesign it if you like.

I fear the novelty may wear off, for me at least, within a week :s

    Re: Spore!

In PCG it said that when you get to the stage where you go into outer space, everyone wages war on you. It also said that can be game over as you have trouble repairing the damage. Or something like that.

All the same I just can't help but think this is a Sims type thing.

    Re: Spore!

The problems I'm having at the space stage is that the enemies fighters weapons are so much more destructive than the ones on my ship (a thing that annoys me, considering my ship is just a space-travelling superweapon from how I made it, which seems to have sweet f.a impact on its use). I can fly into an enemy homeworld, and the three or four ships they might have floating about, with not even a quarter of the health of my ship, and they completely rape me in the ear.

    Re: Spore!

The first two stages are a bit boring. The first stage is over with very quickly and it's very basic. You just eat food and change your blob.

The second stage is getting a bit tedious. It's similar but your things are more complex and you can interact more killing other tribes or becoming friends with them. There's a lot of walking and it can be frustrating. (I'm at this stage at the moment and hoping it finishes soon!!)

    Re: Spore!

i got mine from pcworld earlier in the day and after the long install i canceled dx9(i have dx10 so didnt think id need to) so had togo through it all again >.<, after that at around 7 i was playing(still am) i thinkits pretty good and great to use up my time , annoying that i cant seem to get ships and tanks etc to look as good as they should but i guess it just takes practice.

EA are having problems with their servers.. you have to be logged into the ea-spore thingy for it to d/l other peoples content...

Have just got to the tribal stage... it has the amazing ability to make time pass quickly.. ive been playing 4 hours and not noticed!!.. its the little touches that make the game... the way the creatures walk and act, the noise they make.. i like it

Heh, B&W had its faults (the sailor song... urrghhh) but you simply cannot say it wasn't original.

I have been impressed with spore up until now, since getting into the space stage I have had 2 crashes where the graphics flicker but the game seems to be running. I also get about 7 WSOCK32.dll error messages when I start the game. Starting to think this game could be a bit broken, not sure if its the DRM or what. I don't want to reinstall the thing because of the 3 activations issue. Mind, that being said I will complain to EA big style if that activation thing causes me any issues at all.

Whoah there, I wasn't aware of this !, they kept this quiet !. How did you find this out ?, did it mention it in the manual or on the back of the box ?.

I haven't bought Spore yet as it's allmost my birthday and I'm expecting some kind relative to buy it for me. I'm also on the verge of upgrading my PC, fairly radicaly, so if I had bought it there goes two activations straight away as XP needs to be re-installed.

I'm more than happy with the fact that a CD/DVD needs to be in the drive to play the game but not **** like this
    I'm not fat and I'm not 40
