Just something else about the 3 activations...
once the game is installed it doesnt need the CD to play.
(found this out that im playing on my pc without the CD while me mum is playing the same game on her PC with the CD)
Well that's a very small bone they've thrown us there, 5 activations would have been fairer.
I'm still very interested in where in/on the packaging it states about the three activations ?. I'm very uncomfortable with anything that I have bought and paid for that places restrictions on what I can do with it.
The space stage is the most detailed aspect i think but there is one major annoying thing i have encountered, on most missions it doesnt point where togo just says the name which is VERY hard when there is like 40 planets in one area so your there just hovering the mouse over each one >.<, i hope im just missing something or else its just very annoying.
Just completed the tribe stage - it was okay - I guess the closest comparison is with Populous - the beginning - again I thought the tribe stage was okay - nothing especially challenging, and I found myself surfing the net while waiting for the tribe to do the boring things like walking to the other tribes villages. It almost feels scripted, click here, do this, do that, bobs your uncle, I don't know if I have this on easy or what but it seems overly easy? I just wish I could get Populous - the beginning to work on my PC - I'd be much happier playing that
I'll wait and see what the civ bit is like next - is this anything like command and conquer? - that was always fun.

Its sorta like C&C but MUCH smaller scale, its pretty much the same as tribal and stuff tbh because all you do is capture some land to produce money or something and then build stuff in your city(house/factor/turrets some others) then build an army of land/sea and eventually air, then you goto a different city and ally or kill them. Space is the most challenging tbh, you have to explore etc.
I cant believe this activation stuff, id thought it would be like mass effect but NO its registered to my account now so no-one can use it >.<.
I'm sure that after the soon-to-be-ensuing uproar over the activations, they'll either raise it, remove it, or the best option IMO, bring out one of those Bioshock activation revoke tools. I dont mind having a 3 activation limit, as long as when I uninstall/reformat, I can get it back.
Got to the Space age and to be honest I am a little bored with it, all very similar so far...meet another tribe/city/planet and either allie with them or destroy them...then onto the next stage...
I dont even think other than the occasional funny one the downloaded creatures will be that interesting.
Time will tell.
I was going to buy it straight off, but with the 3 activation limit, and the fact that i'm not sure how/if it will play on my desktop and laptop at the moment, I think it will wait. It's just another reason for me to get my act together and build a replacement desktop and then I might reconsider!

Well, the game overall is ok. I'm currently "All Powerful" on Space stage, with only "Ultimate Being" and "Omnipotent" to go. Now I'm bored. I can't get past the Grox no matter what I try, and they stand between me and the centre of the universe. So, I'm flying around and around, visiting more and more planets and getting killed over and over again every time I get anywhere near the Grox. Using the wormhole key to get through blackholes is fun, mind.
By the way, if you go all out military (warmongering) in Space mode, you won't get too far. You really do need allies. You need to try to keep your allies from dying so that you can take them to war with you against the Grox, as you have to wipe out the Grox to finish the game.

My brother is getting this. I'll "borrow" it off of him (I seem to use "borrow" an awful lot on this forum") and use up one of his precious activations on my computer or something.
It sounds good, and fun. Don't know though, I'll find out when I get round to playing it (once my brother has played it to death that is.)

so annoying DRM issues aside, is this game worth the money?
Been playing this for most of the weekend. My view, put in the most simplest way, is that the 1st 4 stages are 'meh'. Didn't find them very fun, limited amount to do and found tribal and civilization stages quite tedious and buggy. But the space stage is astronomical! I have spent about 15 hours in front of my PC this weekend playing through the space age with one species and still with so much to do! I had spent ages building up my colony, making allies, making sure that I had no enemys so I didn't have to worry about getting attacked every 2 minutes... up until I got hold of the planet buster...
... blowing up planets has never been so satifying! Though suffice to say I have lost all my allies and most have gone to war with me (blowing up the home planet of the nearest and largest empire probably wasn't the wisest move, but they did annoy me by telling me to go collect a species called "your mum")
