    Antec 1200 watercooled build log..

If you've seen this thread: http://forums.hexus.net/scan-care-he...er-unwell.html

..then this carries on with some pics and explaination of doing my new Antec 1200 build. I've had to do some 'temporary' rigging with some of my old watercooling kit as the thermochill rad's 3/8" adaptors aren't in the box (doh). I'm using a d5 vario pump this time (bloody hell it's powerful) and i'm very impressed with the dtek cpu block.

    Problems i've had:

Antec used odd thread sizes for the motherboard spacers (just use the screws that come with it)

I forgot to plug in the 12V cpu line (again!) and thought it was dead.

Asus motherboards are darn picky - classic refusal to post (no video). No sure if it's gpu card bending the mb or that it likes the ps2 keyboard plugged in..

Big tubs of water from your drained system will always get knocked over making your feet wet and lots of expensive hardware bits too. Airing cupboards are good. Learn to love them.

Dodgy SATA cable caused the drives to unmount in windows.

No speaker in the case (retro fitted one I like me beeps!)

    Good stuff:

    Case is huge.

Can put the GTX in the lower SLI slot (makes it easier to get to SATA plugs)

    Duct tape is wonderful.

    Case cooling is awesome.

A 2x120mm rad will fit on the back over the outtake fans really easily (shame i'm going 3x120mm)

Compression fittings work really, really well - especially when combined with a little LS-X jointing compound (i like to be very sure).

Sceptical about PSU being at the bottom but it's great IRL

Cable management is very nice, very easy to work with.

I'll add pics and updates as I go

    Initial test build:

    No, this isn't permanent

I decided to run the cpu pipe out the back and into the top for neatness..

are you not getting warning messages using the lower pcie slot for the gtx ?

i thought the top one had the better performance ?

Nope, and I (think) their both X16 slots so they should be equal. ?

I thought one was 16x and one was 16x size but with 4x bandwidth, since it can only run xfire in 4x.

Re: Antec 1200 watercooled build log..

Ok, it's in the top slot and posted first time (which was nice)... Maybe it is the whole ps2 keyboard thing - i've long had the 'no video' problem with this board and always put it down to the 8800gtx. What i usually have to do it turn off the psu (at the switch) and leave it for 5 mins) - this was with just a usb keyboard in. Really must work that one out sometime..

@ 3ghz they're 29-33 at idle across all the cores (coretemp).

Having problems getting it too boot in the x16 slot now - either won't post occasionally (normal for me) or once in windows i'll loose video (white screen and then a bios beep after a while) [never seen this before]. arghhhhhhhh. I'm still running the 311 bios on the pk5 deluxe wifi - i wonder if i ought to update it.

do it safely. I just fubared mine >_>

any idea on the main cpu temp?
I used the everest demo to see the main cpu temp.

Here's a link to a zip (no need for installing) version - http://www.lavalys.com:8081/everestultimate460.zip

    Would be nice to know.

Before you update your bios check the website to see what it fixes.
