...stop tempting me to buy this case...

I like what you are doing so far and is a nice encouragement to try out water cooling one day

Could be something bizarre like using all 4 sticks of ram and GFX combo causing your problems? (Just throwing an idea around; you know way more abouts PCs than i do in a million years. )

I think if I were going to go the water cooling route I would struggle to choose between the 1200 and the akasa omega. I think the Omega would get my money though as I do really like my eclipse even though it's harder to cable than the antec. But there are ways around such complications

I quite like my TJ06 in its water cooled goodness was an absolute pain though and the way I have it setup now the is not really a whole lot I can do in terms of expansion for more radiator goodness in fact I probably am wasting one of my PA160's (they are stacked) look pretty cool though Though I really need to touch up the paint on the Rads all you need to do is look at it funny and it flakes off!

    Pics to follow

It's a thought - i've heard people saying the RAM choice can cause issues with these boards. Asus stuff is 'quirky' to say the least sometimes.

If I was wise - it'd work properly
The case is a monster - it's huge and brutish compared to my loverly (but old) coolermaster 201. I do like it tho - it's one of the bits that actually works atm!

Yes, lots of work, far too much hassle - but if it goes well it's quiet, reliable and quick. TBH I enjoy the build - even when it goes south like this one.
Do you ever get 'no post' probs with yours? Can't remember if we've got the same RAM either..

Yeah I know, I was just emptying mine yesterday and tried lifting the case and it was still god damn heavy! Those fan filters are awesome though. I've removed caked layers off dust each month which would have been all inside my components had I not had them.

Your Geil ram shouldn't be having any troubles. Any ram over 6400 might have trouble but usually all that needs is 1 stick and go into the bios to set up timings and voltage.

Re: Antec 1200 watercooled build log..

Ok sorry everything got stalled by the 280 problems but i'm back on track now. I'm in the process of fabricating a bracket for the 120.3 thermochill radiator which i'm mounting externally (best performance and no heat dumping in the case). I shall pop some pics up once i've got a prototype in place

Re: Antec 1200 watercooled build log..

Prototype bracket is now done - pics coming at the weekend. Very happy with the mounting solution as i'll have all the hot air dumped outside the case (and the rad only has cold air circ onto it).

    So here's our protoype bracket:

All the mounts are now threaded (so no bolt required).

Re: Antec 1200 watercooled build log..

And here's a test fit (still plenty to be done yet including the holder for the res!)

Other side (sorry about the sleeve in front of the camera but i'll take more pics once i've got this finalised!)

As you can see, air flow out of the case isn't impeeded, and the radiator draws across the back of the case (so the radiator only takes in cold air). I'm only using the outer mounting points as I didn't feel i needed them all. I've had to offset the bracket with a nut between the case and the bracket to allow the side panel to be reattached (no biggy).

It's one big rad - two pass (hence it's so thick) and the system now holds a full litre! I've had to turn the pump down to 3 as it's just far too powerful at full whack.

I think i shall call this the "back breaker" as picking the system up now is "fun"

If you're thinking i'm nuts, well so am i!

I have a metal fairy If you're serious about wanting one then these things can be done Bear in mind the radiator end has fitment to match the thermochill so if your layout differs you may need yer holes in another place

I gave it a lot of thought and i'm convinced this is the best way to mount - it doesn't interfere with ANYTHING and no hot air is dumped in the case (nor do you loose room to it). It also makes the rad a doddle to clean out and emptying the system can be done easily (most of the water is outside the case) for work.

I've got some stop valves to fit as well as a t-piece drainer and a flow monitor.
