    That's brilliant!

Well done - you must be well pleased with that. I'm envious now!

I see Scan are out of stock of these now and awaiting an ETA - hopefully they will get more exactly the same. Bet they will sell out again quick now though!

Hmm I feel stupid now not buying one when I saw it a few days ago on today only. I was under the impression that these were regor core and not deneb and so an unlock AFAIK would only get some extra cache?

Unlike the althon 5000+ which was more likely to (but not guaranteed)

You tried to over clock it yet, it would be rude not to

A quad for around £30 is excellent value!!

I thought of getting one myself and an AM2+ motherboard but TBH I already have a Q6600 which does the job ATM.

    Re: Athlon X2 5200+ 45nm 2.3GHz AM3 unlocks to Phenom FX-5200

Well just running a Prime Blend at 3.24GHz, with 2.26GHz on HT and CPU-NB. Sitting 50-54°C depending on load and it's made it through the first test with a run of 3DMark06 on top for a little extra stress.

VCore is at 1.35v. I'm not entirely sure what CPU NB voltage is though. I had to set "+150mv" in my BIOS but not entirely sure what 0 is to get it stable at current speed. Anyone know of a good way to check? Overdrive isn't reporting the voltage increases over default correctly.

This FSB speed (282) is the max my RAM will take without over-volting so will probably sit here for a while. If I can work out what the CPU-NB voltage actually is I might go for a little extra overclocking there, although I don't really want to take temps much higher. Dropping VCore a little might be a possibility. I just picked 1.35v as it's default for a Phenom II 955, which just runs a little slower at stock.

From previous experience, I should be able to get the FSB to 300 with a little extra voltage on my RAM if I feel like it.

Edit: Indications at this stage are that this might be a better chip than my unlocked 5000+. That had ropey L3 cache, generating warnings for corrected hardware erros in event viewer. No such warnings here. Fingers crossed...

Further Edit: On the basis that the CPU's default CPU-NB voltage is 1.125 - I think I'm running 1.275 CPU-NB Voltage.

Edit: And a blend shot before bedtime. I think I'll go to bed happy.

Nice, I got the Athlon 5000+ unlock to FX5000. This would have been a nice upgrade, bet they are hard to find now.

    Re: Athlon X2 5200+ 45nm 2.3GHz AM3 unlocks to Phenom FX-5200

Well I only bought mine last week but Scan ran out of stock. There are definitely some Regor core 5200+s as well as Denebs. Got to strike while the iron is hot with these. I saw someone had a confirmed unlock from Scan's stock last week so went for it pretty quickly.

Just trying to see how much I can bring the vCore down and stay stable on this at the moment.

Looks like I'll be saving power at a faster speed than my ulocked 5000+ . Might even try cool and quiet (tried once, booted, which is more than the previous unlock ever did).

1hr 19mins is not enough on prime 95.

24hours with no errors should be considered stable, thats what i did when i unlocked a 3rd core on my x2 550 media pc.

I could get to 1hour ish with all 4 cores unlocked then ide get an error and/or crash, dropped it down to 3 cores and ran for 24hours with no errors.

    Re: Athlon X2 5200+ 45nm 2.3GHz AM3 unlocks to Phenom FX-5200

I know full well 1 hour 19 isn't enough - hence the quick blend before bed comment. It was just a work in progress shot. Doing some tweaking before I get to a long blend though. Don't generally leave my PC on 24/7. The only time is when I'm already confident about settings for a new CPU and want to test.

Edit: actually I don't trust a prime blend alone full stop. Seen CPUs that will blend or do small FFTs indefinitely but will BSOD on boot. I tend to run other demanding stuff at the same time as Prime. Plus use other stability tests like IBT or S&M.

Get some long tests done buddy to ensure max stability, im interested to see how it turns out, IF a sucessful unlock AND overclock is achieved then il take my hat off to you good sir.

    Keep us updated

Remember, keep an eye on those temps

I got my Athlon II x3 up to a quadie with all the cache which cost £55
I'm currently at 1.4vcore and 3.6ghz, you should be able to achieve that?

Not with my current board and RAM. Judging by previous experience 300FSB is the max my motherboard can consistently POST and this CPU only has an 11.5x multiplier.

Edit: Just FYI, all being well I plan to run at 3.24 GHz as going higher will mean I have to overvolt my RAM. Undecided on CPU-NB and HT speed. Will just have to see how high they go at some point.

Thats quite an unlock for thirty sheets !

Thats more impressive than getting my Phenom 2 X2 555 BE to unlock all it's 4 cores and remain Prime95 stable for 36 hours.

Not tried to OC the chip yet, don't really feel the need TBH.

8 hour blend work in progress shot:

Have to say I'm surprised by the voltages and temps.

Edit: Speedfan's Temp1 is my overall CPU Temp. Individual core temps don't work when unlocked.
