It's hubby's cousin's 18th birthday at the start of next month, and she's expressed a wish to start getting in to photography. Now, her parents didn't want to buy a DSLR for her straight off cos she's never really done any photography before, so they don't know how long her interest would last. So I suggested they could get her a bridge camera to let her have the feel and some of the functions of an SLR but without the expense etc to allow her to get to grips with settings and things. So they're going for the Fuji s2500.
Now, we want to get her a couple of wee things to get her going, so i'm thinking:
a camera bag
a pack of rechargable batteries & charger
a memory card
I was thinking about getting her a book to get her started too. Does anyone have any recommendations of books she could read? Bearing in mind that she's quite a young 18 yr old, she's probably not too likely to want to trudge through an encyclopedia sized book, maybe a quick start guide or "basics" book?
Also if there's anything else that she might find handy that i've missed? Her dad's got a tripod, so don't need that.
TIA!
