    Evolution or Creation.

I have recently finished reading a book called 'Man's True Ancestors' and although I have always been rather sceptical of the Adam and Eve theory of our existence on this planet I am now completely convinced that Charles Darwin got it right with his Theory of Evolution, and that the ancient scribes who gave us the biblical theory got it completely wrong.

This planet is approximately 4.5 billion years old and early man, who descended from the great apes of the African savannah 7 million years ago were our ancestors, so it must follow that the great apes were our direct ancestors. This has been refuted by church leaders because it does not tie in with their cosy, rather childish like theory of Adam and Eve being the parents of the human race. On close scrutiny the biblical stories and alleged miracles were all fantasy invented to control the illiterate masses of
those far off days and initiate organised religion. So the big question is; did man create God, or did God create man ? In my opinion there were only two wise men, not three, and they were, Huxley and Darwin.

    Re: Evolution or Creation.

To me ther is no argument. Creationism just doesn't make sense to me at all.

Seems to make sense to some people, hence there is a great debate about it.

    Re: Evolution or Creation.

Since there are countless different views of supreme beings in single countries not to mention the planet the chance of any of the religions being "right" is rather unlikely.

Thats not to say there isn't something bigger out there which lit the fuse to the big bang leading to all of this... You can't prove that either way.

Religions were of course created by man.. but who is right.. the stupidly high percentage of people in the world (90%?) who have religious beliefs or the relatively low percentage who do not?

Religion gives a lot of people in the world a purpose and can promote acts of unthinkable kindness...it can of course also start horrific wars.

I don't know who's right and quite frankly I don't care. Just go about your business and then die like the rest of us..

See you in the next life

I am not banking on a "next life" only religious people believe in all that twaddle.
This life is the only life so make the best of it, the next is eternal oblivion unless you happen to die with a torch in your hand and a few million Ever Ready batteries. There is only one 'heaven', and that's planet earth, but religion has turned it into hell. In fact, the only reason that religion took off in the first place is because there were no lunatic asylums in Jerusalem 2,000 years ago.

    Re: Evolution or Creation.

It's sort of like being a vegetarian.. you can do it all like.. you can protest the fact that the bulk of humans eat meat and try and get them to change their ways.

Of course at some point you just have to accept the fact that everyone will continue to eat meat and really couldn't care if you don't like it.

It's obviously a conterversial subject but why should it be? Why does anyone need to know your opinion on the matter? I for one couldn't care less what you think and in return I wouldn't want you to care what I think. This way everyone can go about their business believing whatever the hell they like.

-------------------------------------------------------------------Another question: Why do so many posters on this forum have an attitude problem?
I'll ring for a shrink right away. He might have the answer.

    Re: Evolution or Creation.

Why do people have an attitude?

I honestly don't think its an attitude problem, more of a great big question of why on earth would any vaguely sane person come on to a technology forum to debate moral/theoretical questions.

At best you are going to get a sarky response of 42.

    Re: Evolution or Creation.

I think it was Nick that pointed out that you come to a forum which mainly revolves around technology, pc's, phones, tech support etc.. and ask questions such as this. There are lots of forums dedicated to the sort of questions you are asking.. why Hexus?

    EDIT: What dave said lol

    Re: Evolution or Creation.

I don't think staffsMike has an attitude problem, I think that was a pretty honest answer.

Abrupt perhaps, but thats to be expected on forums, we generally don't beat about the bush with our opinions.

EDIT: took too long typing that. That'll be the gin.

    Re: Evolution or Creation.

Don't take it the wrong way, but I think that this subject simply has been battered to death for many (it's been popping up every months or two, last for hundreds of post before being restarted in another form). It was interesting to read the arguments from various side, but some of us may simply feel that the discussion has burnt out (it was the impression I got from Mike's post - I can dig up an old thread if you want to see some long discussions spanning pages). Perhaps those of us who feel that way shouldn't have replied at all, but just see it as temptation getting the better of us

    Re: Evolution or Creation.

Perhaps was a bit abrupt, but I wasn't trying to be offensive (at that point anyway ).

I don't care about anyone's opinions on religion and I don't want anyone to care about mine

No one is going to solve this problem short of the booming voice of God from the sky.. and even then scientists would be pointing radio telescopes in every which direction to work out where it was coming from as it couldn't be God..it would spoil all their fun.

It is a subject best left alone as nothing good can come of talking about it.

    ....................................................................................................

The biggest mystery of mankind since time immemorial is; where did we come from? ..and you want to brush the subject under the carpet and state that it is of no importance. If the origin of the species, specifically the evolution of mankind isn't important nothing is. Oooops!..I should have said 'human kind'.....mustn't leave the ladies out of the equation must we ? I wouldn't want to upset the politically correct loonies.

I sincerely hope that you are aware that the human race were not all found under gooseberry bushes.

Gin????.....Isn't that a ladies drink. Or are you not of the male gender ?
Incidentally, mods, it would be nice to know what gender the posters on this forum actually are.
Can't we have the word female, or male added to their profile ? Just a suggestion.
