Re: 3D Gaming on PS3 possible?

nice post neoplanet40 I hope it is true it can be done with a firmware upgrade that would be truely awesome, it seems to be the future of gaming, the nvidia system seems reasonably priced and pretty effective, so no reason to think Sony can't pull it off, as long as it supports nearly all games as standard it will be a winner.

3d has always been the games makers goal
I still have my nintendo virtual boy the original 3d home console which was a massive flop but I still love it 3d is the future but nintendo were ready but the world wasn't

I dont really care about 3d games. I wouldn't change my tv for that but if it could play 3d blu-rays.... that would be quite a different matter..........

I'll wait until i see it. We've yet to hit the 'HD' generation in some(high-profile) games yet they're going to be knokcing out 3D.

Kalniel: "Nice review Tarinder - would it be possible to get a picture of the case when the components are installed (with the side off obviously)?"
IGN: "IGN doesn't normally update on the weekend, but this is Halo so normal rules don't apply."
CAT-THE-FIFTH: "The Antec 300 is a case which has an understated and clean appearance which many people like. Not everyone is into e-peen looking computers which look like a cross between the imagination of a hyperactive 10 year old and a Frog."

Re: 3D Gaming on PS3 possible?

Will it be able to do true 3D gaming though that's the question on my mind. The PS3's HDMI output is HDMI 1.3a if I remember correctly and from everything I've read about 3D TV so far it looks like it requires HDMI 1.4, something you can't upgrade in a firmware update, you'd need to change some of the hardware as well.

That said, with 3D TV in its infancy and 720p/1080p HD TV only just gaining a consumer foothold, HDMI 1.3 still delivers the goods. You could argue that you don't even need an integrated data channel, as new TVs and set-top boxes are now including Ethernet jacks as standard.
HDMI 1.4 won't work with existing T.V's either which will mean a costly upgrade...
