    New bios for LG95 ???

    Hi Sean,

Could you feed back to the powers that be that we need a bios update for the LG95 board please.

Atm you cant set the fsb to desired speed, it just defaults to what the cpu default is no matter what you specify.

Also there is no ability to set ddr voltages and while I appreciate that this is in no way an overclocking board the user needs to be able to set ram voltage. In my case in order to get the ram to run at it's tighter timings I need set the voltage higher than what is specified in the spd.

Other than that this board makes a great, cheap HTPC platform.

    Regards

    J

I can make the request but I doubt it will make a difference. The board is designed to run at stock speeds and voltages.

Thanks Sean, I appreciate what your're saying but think it's definitely a bios bug, rather an overclocking feature problem. i.e. my cpu runs at stock speed but the memory doesn't.

same here; there is clearly a bug in the bios: the bios DOES have a fsb setting option (200-300) BUT it always defaults back to original value; why have this option at all, then?

should i then understand that unless i buy a fatality board i should skip abit altogether and try the competition? sorry, but "The board is designed to run at stock speeds and voltages" is not exactly a kind answer.

that being said, there is something strange with the bios. mine's dated 01/12/2007; the (only) one on the abit website is 12/11/2006; both are id-ed as 10

This is not a bios bug. The motherboard was simply design to run at stock speeds. I'm not sure why the option is in the bios to change the FSB.

But there should still be the option to change things like ram voltage though for the reasons I stated in my first post, this is not an overclocking feature but just a basic bios function.

Ok jim I may be able to help here if I may

I have the LG95 AND the LG95Z in my opinion both are designed for SI (systems integration) in mind, and are really best suited for the educational establishment. SO it makes sense in a way that they are not overclocker boards. I think this is what Sean is trying to say!

Personally I think anything otherer than the max series is not highly suited for ocing. Having said that I have had some good results out of the Fatal1ty series. I am infamous for having a dim view of the fatality products in general, but it must be said that if you after a cheap oc board I would have gone for the F-I90HD (part one has just been reviewed by myself) especially if you also want a HFPC

    cheers

533 & 667 memory is design to run at 1.8v there shouldn't be any need to change the DDR2 voltaages.

Thats why there is no option to adjust the voltages.

true, but then who demanded an overclocker's board? i did not ask abit or sean here to give us multiple vcore options or other tweaks usually available on the better and more expensive boards. what i asked for was merely that options available in the bios should work as they are supposed to. had i been looking for an overclocker's board i would have bought something else.

Yes they are but many modules you either get really crap timings in the spd at that voltage or they just simply won't run unless you provide more juice.

So once again I understand that this is not an overclockers board but in this day & age the ability to adjust ram voltage is almost a given. (especially as this board allows you to adjust the timings but not the voltage, it's just plain stupid that you cant give the ram more juice)

When all is said & done the board is still great for an HTPC but again it seems Abit are giving us short change on the bios support front.

Just a quick one. Could you guys confirm that LG95 doesn't have any overclocking capabilities whatsoever. It is very odd for ABIT especially after very nice LG81. I was thinking about getting this mobo but it looks like I have to reconsider available options.
Thank's a lot for your answers.

Thank's a lot. Fortunately I managed to cancel my order.

Now I have to find another microATX mobo. That's a shame for after going through specicfication and reading about LG81 I was sure that LG95 would be a perfect one for me offering a good performance with some overclocking options.
