Unhappy SATA HD problem with Bios

    Hi,

Hope someone can kindly help with this?
Bought a new computer. All fine. Then I get a message asking me to update my bios. Aha I thought, better make a recovery disk of bios (which I did).

Bios upgrade seemed to work but there was a CMOS error. Not to worry I thought. I will reflash from the floppy. Which I did. Now however, my SATA HD is not being recognised at all.
I have loaded in the bios defaults. The Primary IDE is set to Auto but the drive is not found.
I have looked endlessly for a SATA setting but cannot find one in the Bios. I looked on the Maxtor website and found the drive settings but alas the numbers I am asked to enter are too big!

How do I get my Bios to recognise my SATA hard drive. It isn't a broken HD as this was working fine until the BIOS flash.

My HD is a 250Gb Maxtor
    My Motherboard is a 865PE-Neo3
    and my bios is AMI.

Any help would be really really appreciated.

    Thanks

    Argy

    Fine Flash

Well I think I am now back to the original Flash as I restored from the backup.
It is not 100% clear which model I have! IS there an easy way to tell?

    Thanks for your help

it should say what the exact board name is between either the first or second pci slots in big white letters and it will say the proper model number (MS-####) between the last pci slots

Also have a shufty in your BIOS for an option along the lines of boot from RAID/SCSI - that's often the part you need to be tinkering with.
