    IN9-32 MAX Board Issues

    Hello there

I'm really hoping someone can help me out a bit (no pun intended!) with this board. I am looking for overclocking stability, but as you will see below, there are other issues even at stock settings. I will summarise quickly below :

    Specs :

    Core 2 6420
    AntecNEO 500 PSU
    ATi 1900XT
    Corsair 6400C4 (2Gb)
    X-Fi
    Tuniq Tower 120

System POSTS/Boots normally with normal BIOS settings.

System will POST/Boot with FSB set to 375, linked, 3:2 divider (CPU 3Ghz, mem 1Ghz). Will pass Prime/Orthos at this speed.

System is not stable at any other setting other than default, particularly if changing from the setting above. An increase or decrease of even 1 on the FSB will result in instability. It will also give me an 'overclocking failed' error in uGuru before it has even tested the settings.

Unstable settings frequently hard-lock the BIOS, requiring a CMOS clear (powering down for 30 secs does NOT resolve the issue)

Hard-locks in windows require a reboot, the BIOS will then more often than not hard-lock (as above)

System will NOT post when SLI memory is enabled (in any way). Mobo sticks on C1 error (detecting memory). Memory has been tested using Extended Memory Diagnostic (inc cache) and passed 100%. Also been reseated, and tested with only one module with the same result.

Adjusting any voltages does not seem to make any difference

Temps are absolutely fine. CPU idles low 30s and under load high 30s/low 40s. PWMs are mid 40s idle and low 50s under load. Voltages are rock steady on all rails. The Tuniq Tower is set up so that it pushes hot air towards the rear-exhaust.

Have tried BIOS 1.0, 1.1 and 1.2 all with same results.

I hope someone can offer some assistance, it's driving me nuts. It should be such a good board......

    Update :

I've been running a 12" room fan at low power blowing direct into the side of my case for the last couple of hours.

So far, I've managed to get the CPU up to 3.6Ghz, 1800 (450FSB) stable @ 1.45v, now running 3.4Ghz 1700 (425FSB) 1.44v as I'm more comfortable with this. All orthos tested and fine, completely unheard of before.

So it looks like active cooling is needed on the NB. I'll have to rotate it probably to fit it round the Tuniq, but I'm hoping that should be sufficient.

    Nice one!

SLI memory still seems a bit flaky but I can wait for a BIOS update for that.

well tbh i think you will be waiting a long time for abit to release a bios update, they are extreamly slow at releasing bios to fix problems, especialy well known probelms, such as sata hd probs, usb probs, ect ect,

It is a good board buddy, on a 6600 I have manEged to squeeze 4.02 gigs OC

One tIp though NEVER use the oc feature in widows. THe only place where you SHOULD oc is in the BIOS. I have tried in Windows myself using the UGURU feature and the most I could get is a measly 20 to 24% overclock. Whilst in the BIOS i can get a 66% T0 85% oc

In short NEVER overclock using the windows utility, ALWAYS use the BIOS!

In addition beta 13 is out and solves many issues, I now have a quadcore cpu and evaluatung this bios using the quadcore

So why won't it clock over 1333fsb??? I'm not the only one who has verified this.
At least EIST and C1E work with it.

I have IN9 32-MAX that will not POST, it sticks on C1.

I have tested the memory (Corsair TwinX DDR2 XMS2 Dominator, PC8500) and the CPU (Core 2 Quad Extreme QX6800) on an Intel D975XBX2 system they are fine.

Should I purchase something like http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Produ...oductID=121631 and try to upgrade the BIOS? if so which one should I use?

Thanks for the URL, but I think it is broken... I received my 1.8v 512MB DIMM today and I am still getting "C1" on the POST. I hate this when it happens...

Yep! I did that; I ran the MB outside of the case tonight so only had the XFX 7800gtx and the 1.8v RAM. Still the same. However if I reset the MB it shows F0. One thing that is different once it went past C1 and sat at 7F. However the next time it went back to C1. So it is going back. I really like Abit boards but am wondering if I should go to the ASUS striker extreme.
