    Abit IP-35 Pro why not ddr-3

    Just wondering why they are releasing this new board but not with ddr-3 memory?

    This is beceuase of two reasons.

    1 The X38 chipset will be launched in september with DDR 3 support
    2 I think ddr3 modules are still hard to get hold of and are high priced where you can get them=simple marketing strategy.

    I would guess as Gilgamesh says that DDR3 isn't yet ready for mainstream given cost & availability - when it is I'm sure that abit wll release DDR3 P35 mobos.

    Because DDR3 is rubbish with current LGA775 CPUs.
    And expensive. I'd much rather DDR2 boards until Intel drops the FSB and goes for an integrated memory controller, when the CPU will actually be able to take advantage of DDR3's bandwidth and won't suffer so much from its ridiculous latencies.
