    F-I90HD Audio problems

Ok, this is weird but it's also starting to annoy me. My friend just got a new mobo/cpu and ram, got his PC all built and installed windows.

Things were fine until we put SP2 on it.

The audio now refuses to work whatsoever, despite uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers several times, nothing is fixing this!

The main issue that I can find about this, relates to the Plug and Play Enumerator not functioning and indeed, in Device Manager, there's a driver issue for this, however all the solutions I've found to reinstall this have failed to fix the problem!

    Any ideas???

I guess no one's run into this problem before then! I don't *think* it's a hardware problem because there's definate driver issues showing.

I had a similar problem with a relatives PC - after a format and fresh install - there was no sound, but it had been working OK before. Turned out to be a problem with the Microsoft UAA High Definition Audio Driver (i.e. it was not installed). I tracked it doen on the Compaq web site, downloaded and installed and hey presto - proper sound!

Nothing to do with the ordinary Sound Drivers for the board. Search for "UAA High definition audio class driver" or "Microsoft Universal Audio Architecture (UAA) Bus Driver for High Definition Audio". Check out http://support.microsoft.com/kb/888111 as a starting point.

The deafault one from Intel for Realtek is here http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Deta...1&DwnldID=7525

That Intel one looks like the one that comes with the board, rahter than the UAA HD audio one but *shrugs* anything is worth a try!
