    ab9 pro uGuru problem

I can't understand why the o/c sliders in uGuru on my system only go up to 400fsb when I have seen a friends system go all the way to 600 (the maximum limit of the motherboard). Seeing as the PC is perfectly stable at 400 I would like to be able to tweak further with uGuru rather than having to modify in the bios. Can you tell me why this is so?

    Re: ab9 pro uGuru problem

uGuru its a great utility for checking temps, voltages and fan speeds and you can alter the FSB setting but I wouldn't recommend overclocking your motherboard within windows.

Overclocking is always easier and better within the bios.

...lol? Thats pretty contradictory to everything written by abit about this mobo... and doesn't answer my question Still, I agree, but from a testing perspective its quite useful to o/c in that manner imo.

    Re: ab9 pro uGuru problem

Its desgned more for people who haven't done much overclocking before. It allows for small changes.

To answer your oringinal question the FSB slider in uGuru is set by the CPU & bios.

Shouldn't be, are you both running the same BIOS/uGuru versions?

    Re: ab9 pro uGuru problem

this has been the case on all used versions of the bios. That is v1+v5-10(current). I have tried most uGuru revisions. Can't explain it myself...

Thats all that is needed to be known.
I doubt motherboard manufacturers will create programs that allow's anything to be overclocked to a serious speed as most manufacturers dont endorse overclocking. They may produce lovely overclocking boards and advertise that, but at the end of the day hardware can be damaged and for most of the consumer market they dont want to allow general customers to be able to put any hardware in a certain level of danger.

You want a serious overclock? Do it in the BIOS. Spend time tweaking rather than moaning

    Re: ab9 pro uGuru problem

...some people here like jumping in just to try and sound clever. I am not a noob. Please try to answer the question or don't post. I didn't ask for advice on how best to overclock the board, nor do I particularly need it. The point behind using the uGuru slider is to narrow down a sensible lower limit for my current hardware and easy way - but more than anything, I would like to know why mine is different, and if that in some other way affects the performance of the board. Happy to say that it works beautifully, but still confused, as have seen no other instances when googling. I presumed that answer lay in having an earlier revision of the board but it doesn't seemt o be the the case - at least, if it is, then nobody from ABIT has come forward to tell me so.

    Useful comments only please.
