They have a method here
http://www.bootdisk.com/
Look at the BOOTABLE CD section
I don't think that method will work because the flashcd.zip contains no SATA driver, therefore it will not recognise his DVD SATA drive.
However if the original poster still has an IDE CD or DVD drive available it will definitely work.
1. Go to http://www.bootdisk.com/
2. Scroll down to "Need To Flash Your BIOS On A PC With No 1.44"
3. Click on the 1.44 link to download flashcd.zip
4. Click on "Read 1st", copy the contents to a .txt file and follow the step by step instructions
Alternative: If your BIOS can boot from a USB port buy a USB Flash Drive (Memory Stick) about 6 quid for a cheap one, and flash your BIOS from that

If the SATA is in IDE mode it does not require drivers, only if he is using AHCI or RAID will it be an issue, he could always change to IDE mode for the flash and change back afterwards but make sure u dont try to boot into the OS, shouldnt cause issues changing the mode but u never know
I didn't know that, personally I always use the flashcd method, never had a problem, plus I can put 2 or 3 different BIOS on the CD and swap between them quite easily.
If he can change the SATA drive to IDE mode in BIOS then it shouldn't be a problem. The worst thing that can happen is that it will not work, I don't think it would bork his BIOS

You can use a USB stick. You need these:
HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool:
http://files.extremeoverclocking.com/file.php?f=197
And the DOS system files to put on your USB key (zipped) using the above tool:
http://cern.ch/frazier/DOS_startup_d...stem_files.zip
and the BIOS itself.
Then you just need to change your current BIOS boot priority to boot from the USB stick, and from then on it's easy. You can also put other handy stuff on like MemTest86+, etc. I find it a bit more versatile than a CD.

Anything but floppies, they're notoriously variable in quality and even though I have a floppy drive I never use it for flashing BIOS.
p.s: one of your above links is dead.

Never a truer word spoken (well, written...). I tried about 20 times to install my SATA drivers via floppy during XP install, and each time the floppy disk magically seemed to become corrupt within 30 seconds of me putting the files on it.
Fixed. (I stupidly cut+paste a link of mine from another thread, which had been abbreviated...)
