    Aw9dmax

    Hello.

Since bios 15 the IDE CD drive disappears after running memtest86+. Abit is well aware of this and for six months have done nothing about it. Almost every AW9DMAX owner is having this problem. This is not acceptable.

    Re: Aw9dmax

abit has only just been made aware of this issue. abit UK has only received 1 email from a user experiencing this problem.

memtest86+ is a free download and used at your own risk. abit are in no way resposible for the effect of this software.

If the bios can be modified to fix this issue then I am sure steps will be taken to release an update.

I have been sending emails weekly to you for six months and it has also been well publicised on the abit forums by many people. I had an AB9QuadGT that caused the LAN to disappear and you fixed this. The problem is not specific for memtest86+ but occurs with most memory testing software. This is a problem with the bios and NOT memtest86+.

I can't believe you are saying you did not know about this.

    Re: Aw9dmax

I will run tests first thing Monday. If the problem is confirmed I will pass the information to the abit bios team. Thats all I can do, it will then be upto bios engineers to provide a solution.

Hi Sean. If you check the following thread you will see that I'm not the only one having this problem. It occurs with most IDE DVD drives, not all. I was OK with a HP drive. The rest failed.

Can you tell me the model names of the drives that failed as the bios team are having trouble recreating the problem.

    Re: Aw9dmax

Hi Sean. Sorry I can't give you the model numbers because I got rid of those IDE DVDRW drives and went with sata. They were LG, NEC, Samsung and Pioneer makes.
