    FP-IN9, 4 x 1GB, PCI slot problem

    Hey gang,

Now that I have got my E4300 O/C to 3GHz I thought I was happy. Then I got my Zotac 8800GT = wow!! And to make things even sweeter I added another 2 GB of RAM =

    Now, I have 2 x 1GB OCZ titanium 4-4-4-15 DDR2 800MHz. I then added 2 x 1GB platinum 4-4-4-15 DDR2 800MHz.

All 4 sticks are SLI memory. Once in the Fatality board no longer sees SLI. (on that subject BIOS 15 no longer sees SLI memory either, even with 2 sticks).

Now the problem is once I have 4GB my Vista Ultimate booted up my Wireless PCI card no long functions. It is seen in DevMan but "won't start".
I have tried uninstalling the drivers and tried this in both slots.
Take the extra 2 sticks of memory out and the wireless card just works again.

I occurs to me that having all 4 memory slots populated causes some kind of problem.

I have tried all of this using BIOS 14 and BIOS 15. Defaults and overclocked.

PLEASE TELL ME THERE IS A FIX OR SETTING FOR THIS TO WORK. I need my wireless!!!

    Thanks for your time guys.

If you let me know the type of card you are using I can run some tests for you.

I take it that everyone who has fitted 4 sticks of 1GB RAM has had no issues at all?

All 4 slots populated works a treat?

    Is it just meeeee!!!

    Re: FP-IN9, 4 x 1GB, PCI slot problem

There is potential in that, however I have seen so many machines with different mobos with 4 slots populated with diferent brand memory and they work just fine.

I work for a computer hardware manfacturer repairing computers and we use brand mobos, MSI, Asus, Gigabyte, etc boards and i've mixed samsung, hynix, micron memorys and never had a problem like this.

So when I use an Abit board and as good as identical ram modules i'd have assumed it would work just fine. And it almost does except for the PCI slot issue. That's why I think the board is the problem rather than platinum and titanium sticks.

Abit Sean said he was going to try some testing but he hasn't come back yet. He must be a busy lad

(p.s. a mate of mine at work is using Titanium sticks the same as mine! I wonder if he'll swap them with my Platinum sticks... hmmm...)

Anyone else had success with 4 sticks?

borrow those titaniums from your friend and test it out
the most unlikely problem could be the one thats causing it.

Just asked my m8 and he said he'll bring in his sticks for a swap over test. You'll know ther results of this next week.

good god. I hope it's as simple as that. Crysis really is better with 4GB of RAM (Vista actually sees 3.3GB)

    Re: FP-IN9, 4 x 1GB, PCI slot problem

    Update:

I have fitted the other sticks. I now use 4 x 1GB OCZ TITANIUM. And... it still doesn't work!!
    Could Vista be the problem?

My friend has the same mobo and tried the titaniums and platinums together and his PCI slots work. He has Win XP with a PCI Audigy card and that still works.

Sean, have you had any luck?

    Re: FP-IN9, 4 x 1GB, PCI slot problem

oh damn.. if its a windows install problem then swapping the hd's over might find out. ie if the slots stop working on his pc when your running your windows on his pc then it might be a messed up windows install. if it doesn't fix it, it may just be the board.

    Re: FP-IN9, 4 x 1GB, PCI slot problem

Afraid I dont have the same mobo, but have had no problems running 4x1GB, both in Vista 32 and Vista 64, appreciate thats an apple and pears comparison. That being said I did have a few issues when I built an IN9-32Max with 4x1GB, mainly apps crashing, they stopped when I swapped them out for 2x2GB. There were no PCI cards in that machine.

    I have solved the problem!

    Actually, I haven't... I now don't use wireless.

I bought 3 ZyXEL Homplug AV 200 plugs. Now that i am using the mobos own ethernet port, which is working correctly, I now have my broadband up and running.
